Abstract: PURPOSE:An insecticidal and acaricidal composition that contains a new substance, 2-arylethyl thioether derivative and a synergist such as sesamine, thus having expanded insecticidal spectrum in a lower concentration than when it is used alone, and showing synergically reinforced insecticidal activity. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprises (A) a new substance, 2- arylethyl ether or thioether derivative of formulaI(Ar is aryl; R1 is H, methyl, ethyl; R2 is 1-6C alkyl; R3, R4 are H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy; Y is O, S) such as 3-(4-bromophenoxy)-4-fluorobenzyl 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-methylpropyl ether and (B) a synergist or sesamine of formula II or piperonyl butoxide of formula III, preferably at a ratio of 1/20-1/1. The resultant mixture is quick- acting, hardly makes a variety of pest insects resistant to chemicals and shows low toxicity to fish and warm-blooded animals.
