    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a silicon-contg. polymer improved in heat resistance by reacting a specific disilane compd. with a diethynyl compd. in the presence of a basic metal oxide catalyst. SOLUTION: A silicon-contg. polymer having repeating units represented by formula III and having acetylene bonds and Si-H bonds is obtd. by reacting a disilane compd. represented by formula I (wherein R and R are each H, 1-30C alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, or an arom. group such as a phenyl group; R is a 1-30C alkylene, alkenylene or alkynylene, or an arom. group such as a phenylene group; and (n) is 0 or 1) with a diethynyl compd. represented by formula II (wherein R is a 1-30C alkylene, alkenylene or alkynylene, or a divalent arom. group such as a phenylene or naphthylene group; and (n) is 0 or 1) in the presence of 0.1-1mol (based on 1mol of the diethynyl compd.) of a basic metal oxide catalyst preactivated at 100-800 deg.C for 1-20hr.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicon-contg. functionally gradient material excellent in resistances to heat and combustion, and in mechanical properties. SOLUTION: This silicon-contg. functionally gradient material is obtained by treating a silicon-contg. polymeric compound of the formula (R is H, an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aromatic group; R is an alkylene, alkenylene or divalent aromatic group; R is an alkylene, alkenylene, alkynylene or divalent aromatic group) and/or its cured product in an inert gas or at reduced pressures at 200-3,500 deg.C, or by heat treatment thereof in a gaseous atmosphere containing 1-50vol.% oxygen at 50-1,000 deg.C.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a new compound, useful as a raw material for polyimides as heat- and burning-resistant materials and containing acetylene and Si-H bonds. SOLUTION: This compound of formula I [R is H, a 1-30C alkyl, phenyl, etc.; R is a 1-30C alkylene, phenylene, naphthylene, etc.; R is a 1-30C alkylene, phenylene, naphthylene, etc.; (l) is a positive integer], e.g. bis(3,3'- aminophenylethyny1)silane. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting an aminoethynyl compound of formula II with an aminosilyl compound of formula III in the presence of a basic metallic oxide catalyst.
