    Abstract: Disclosed is a resin composition for ultraviolet luminescent screen comprising one or more of luminescent compound represented by the formula (I): wherein X is , wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 are individually a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, anyl or aralkyl, and Y is perfluoroalkyl, and A is a cation represented by the formula (II): wherein R5, R6, R7, and R8 are individually a hydrogen atom, alkyl or aralkyl and may be combined with each other to form a ring, or a pyridium cation which may have a substituent, or a phosphonium cation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic toner contg. a colorless electric charge regulating agent not contg. a highly poisonous metal, having satisfactory compatibility with a resin, uniformly dispersible in the resin and ensuring superior electrostatic charge imparting property, electrostatic charge kick-off property, aging stability and environmental stability (humidity, temp., etc.) by incorporating a pyromellitic acid deriv. represented by a specified formula or its salt as an electric charge regulating agent having negative charge imparting property. CONSTITUTION:This electrophotographic toner contains a pyromellitic acid deriv. represented by formula I or II or its salt as an electric charge regulating agent having negative charge imparting property. In the formulae I and II, each of R1 and R2 is optionally substd. alkyl or optionally substd. phenyl. The electric charge regulating agent is characterized by the introduction of amido groups into the skeleton of pyromellitic acid and it is extremely excellent in negative charge imparting property, aging stability and environmental stability as compared with a known electric charge regulating agent having negative charge imparting property.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new compound, having low dyeability for resin films, excellent in image brightness, durability, compatibility, etc., with a liquid crystal and useful as a dichroic blue coloring matter for a polymer-dispersed type liquid crystal display element, etc. CONSTITUTION:This compound is expressed by formula I [R is H, a halogen, methyl or methoxy; (m) is 1-10; (n) is 0-6], e.g. a compound expressed by formula II.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject dye with high dichroic ratio excellent in durability and solubility in liquid crystals and consisting of a novel red-based dichroic dye having an anthraquinone skeleton. For synthesis of the above- mentioned dye, 1,5-dihydroxy-4-nitro-2,6-substituted methylanthraquinone compound of formula II is reacted with a thiophenol in the presence of a base such as potassium carbonate or potassium hydroxide in a polar organic solvent such as dimethyl sulfoxide or isopropanol.
