Abstract: IN A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A BOARD BY USING AN ISOCYANATE ADHESIVE ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT INVENTION, A STABLE EMULSION CAN BE OBTAINED BY USING AN AMINE POLYOL, WHICH HAS BEEN OBTAINED BY THE ADDITION OF AN ALKYLENE OXIDE TO AN AMINE COMPOUND, OR A POLYESTER POLYOL CONTAINED IN ITS MOLECULE A NITROGEN COMPOUND UPON EMULSIFICATION OF AN ORGANIC POLYISOCYANATE IN WATER. THE USE OF THE AQUEOUS EMULSION SO OBTAINED OR THE AQUEOUS EMULSION FURTHER CONTAINING A METALLIC SALT OF AN ALIPHATIC CARBOXYLIC ACID HAVING 2 TO 28 CARBON ATOMS AS AN ADHESIVE, PARTICULARLY, AS AN ADHESIVE FOR A LIGNOCELLULOSE MATERIAL BRINGS ABOUT AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE RESULTING PRESSED BOARD INCLUDING STRENGTH, SHORTENS THE PRESSING TIME AND HEIGHTENS THE RELEASABILITY. IT IS THEREFORE AN INDUSTRIAL METHOD SUITED FOR THE EFFECTIVE PRODUCTION OF A HIGH-QUALITY PRESSED LIGNOCELLULOSE BOARD AT A LOW COST.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality organic isocyanate compound by adding a specific three component-based discoloration inhibitor to the compound, useful as a raw material for an elastic material, a foam, an adhesive, etc., while effectively preventing discoloration. SOLUTION: The method for preventing discoloration of an organic isocyanate compound comprises blending (A) an organic isocyanate compound with (B) a compound of the formula [R1 and R2 are each a 1-10C (branched) saturated hydrocarbon group; R3 is R1 or (thio) ether group] [e.g. 4,4'- butylidenebis(3-methyl-6-tert-butyphenol)] (B1 ), 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol (B2 ) and triphenyl phosphite (B3 ), for example, in the ratio of 100 pts.wt. of the component A, 0.005-1 pt.wt., especially 0.01-0.05 pt.wt. of the component B1 , the component B2 and the component B3 , respectively.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable polyurethane soln. which is prevented from coloration and viscosity change even when a polar solvent with a high impurity content is used by reacting a prepolymer contg. an org. diisocyanate with a chain extender in a polar solvent in the presence of a specific compd. SOLUTION: In producing a polyurethane soln. by reacting a prepolymer formed from an org. diisocyanate and a straight-chain compd. having two active hydrogen atoms and a mol.wt. of 250-4,000 with a chain extender in a polar solvent or by reacting a mixture comprising a straight-chain compd. having two active hydrogen atoms and a mol.wt. of 250-4,000 and a chain extender with an org. diisocyanate, the reaction is conducted in the presence of a one-side hindered phenol represented by the formula (wherein R1 and R2 are each a 1-10C satd. hydrocarbon group; and R3 is a 1-10C hydrocarbon group or an ether or thioether group) in an amt. of 50-50,000ppm based on the nonvolatile components. Thus, a polyurethane soln. excellent in physical properties is obtd. even when a recovered polar solvent having a high impurity content is used, and a molding obtd. by removing the solvent from the soln. has excellent physical properties.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce a polyurethaneurea molding with a low hysteresis loss by reacting a specific org. diisocyanate with a linear compd., subjecting the resulting, prepolymer to chain extension to give a polyurethane soln., and removing the org. solvent from the soln. CONSTITUTION: A polyurethaneurea molding is produced by reacting an org. diisocyanate with a linear compd. having two active hydrogen atoms and a mol.wt. of 250-4,000, subjecting the resulting prepolymer to chain extension with a diamine or a mixture of a diamine with a monoamine in an org. solvent to give a polyurethaneurea soln., and removing the solvent from the soln. by a wet or dry method. In the above process, diphenylmethane diisocyanate comprising 2-50% 2,4'-isomer (including 2,2'-isomer) and 98-50% 4,4'-isomer and having a sum of the acid content and the hydrolyzable chlorine content of 20ppm or lower is used as the org. diisocyanate.

Thus, a polyurethane soln. excellent in physical properties is obtd. even when a recovered polar solvent having a high impurity content is used, thus enabling the production of a molding having good physical properties.

A (alkyl)toluene, perclene, (alkyl)benzene, cymene, tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, etc., are used as a solvent.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To increase the hardness of a cured thermosetting resin by reacting a carbodiimide compd. with an org. polyisocyanate compd. in the presence of a cure catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A thermosetting resin is cured by reacting an org. carbodiimide compd. with an org. polyisocyanate compd. in the presence of a cure catalyst. Examples of the polyisocyanate compd. are 2,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and hexamethylene diisocyanate. The obtd. cured item has a pencil hardness higher than that of a cured copolycarbodiimide.

Thus, a polyurethane soln. can be produced without detriment to the productivity or merchandise value. though a chain extender having hydroxylic active hydrogen atoms is used. A molding obtd. by removing the solvent from the soln. has excellent physical properties and is suitable for producing a fiber or film.
