    Abstract: PURPOSE:To industrially simply prepare decolored triethylenetetramine at a low cost without requiring any special device for the decoloration by treating colored triethylenetetramine with bromine. CONSTITUTION:Colored triethylenetetramine containing triethylenetetramine in a concentration of 10-100wt.% is treated with bromine in an amount of 0.01-5wt.% preferably 0.1-1wt.%, based on the compound at ordinary temperature to 400 deg.C, preferably 50-300 deg.C, for 10min to 6hr, preferably 30min to 4hr, and the decolored solution is distilled to provide the decolored triethylenetetramine. The bromine used for the bromine treatment includes liquid bromine and bromine water. The colored triethylenetetramine is obtained by reacting monoethanolamine with ammonia continuously or batchwisely and subsequently distilling the reaction solution.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve selectivity of the objective compound and to reduce discoloration of reaction product solution in producing the title compound by reacting ammonia with ethylenediamine and monoethanolamine by making hydrogen exist in the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:(A) Ammonia is reacted with (B) ethylenediamine and (C) monoethanolamine in the presence of hydrogen using phosphoric acid, a condensate thereof, dihydrogen phosphate, a corresponding pyrophosphate or hydrogen phosphate as a catalyst in the molar ratio of the component A/C=1 or above, preferably 6-50 and the molar ratio of the component B/C=0.01-10, preferably 0.05-5 at 150-400 deg.C, preferably 200-350 deg.C to give a noncyclic ethyleneamine having a wide industrial use, especially ethylenediamines such as ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine or triethylenetetramine and to suppress discoloration in the production.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compounds for, synthesis of hydroquinone useful in photograph industry with a high selectivity without a problem of corrosion of metallic materials by reacting phenol with oxygen in the presence of a specified catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Using copper oxide and boron oxide as the catalyst, phenol or a substituted phenol is reacted with oxygen (Pure oxygen, air or nitrogen- diluted oxygen is used as the oxygen source) usually at 0-150 deg.C, preferably at 10-100 deg.C to obtain the objective compound. The reaction pressure may be ordinary pressure, an applied one or a reduced one and the pressure of oxygen is usually 0.1-500kg/cm G. In case of the non-substituted phenol, 20kg/cm is preferable as the pressure of oxygen. In addition, the above-mentioned catalyst is produced, e.g. by a method where cuprous oxide or cuprous hydroxide is mixed with boron oxide. The atomic ratio of boron to copper is 0.01-100g atom boron based on 1g atom copper.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in good catalytic activity without problem of by-product, etc., by supplying ammonia, monoethanolamine and phosphorus-containing substance on a specific catalyst bed and reacting monoethanolamine and ammonia. CONSTITUTION:Ammonia or ethylenediamine, monoethanolamine and phosphorus-containing substance (e.g. phosphoric acid, phosphorous acid or pyrophosphoric acid) are supplied onto catalyst bed containing phosphoric acid or condensate of said acid preferably in 6-50 molar ratio of ammonia/ monoethanolamine or 1-5 molar ratio of ethylenediamine/monoethanolamine and reacted at 150-400 deg.C, especially 200-350 deg.C to afford the aimed compound. Besides, e.g. a catalyst composed of phosphoric acid carried with silica, etc., is used as said catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an aldehyde and alcohol having a relatively small number of carbon atoms selectively in high yield, by reacting CO with H2 in a hydrous liquid medium in the presence of a solid catalyst containing metallic cobalt, rhodium or iron and/or an alloy thereof. CONSTITUTION:CO is reacted with H2 in a liquid medium containing water in the presence of a cobalt, rhodium or iron solid catalyst, e.g. cobalt boride, to give a 2-6C saturated aliphatic aldehyde and 1-6C saturated aliphatic alcohol selectively. The liquid medium is water or a mixture of water with an organic solvent (preferably the content of the water is >=10%), and an alcohol, carboxylic acid etc. may be used as the organic solvent. The amount of the catalyst is 0.01-25wt%, and the reaction conditions are preferably 120-300 deg.C and 40-800kg/cm . EFFECT:The heat of reaction is easily removed and local superheating of the catalyst will not easily occur due to the large specific gravity of the aqueous medium and good dispersion of the catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare benzene, toluene and xylene in high yield without deposition of carbon on the catalyst, by the dealkylation of a 9C fraction in the presence of steam using a catalyst containing an alkaline earth metal. CONSTITUTION:Benzene, toluene, and xylene are prepared by the dealkylation reaction of a 9C fraction in the pesence of steam using a catalyst containing an alkaline earth metal. The catalyst containing an alkaline earth metal is, e.g. a compound of an alkaline earth metal such as beryllium, strontium, magnesium, etc. (e.g. strontium oxide, strontium carbonate, etc.). The catalyst is pref. incorporated with a cocatalyst selected from a compound of an alkali metal such as lithium, potassium, etc. or a rare earth metal such as cerium, lanthanum, etc.
