Abstract: A coating composition for a cast-coated paper which principally comprises a pigment and an adhesive and in which the adhesive is composed of (A) a rubber latex having an average particle size of 0.1 to 0.3 micron and (B) a rubber latex or an acrylic emulsion having an average particle size of 0.5 to 1.5 micron and the sum of the solid content of the components (A) and (B) is in the range of 9 to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the pigment is herein provided. The coating composition may further contain casein as a binder. In addition, inorganic compounds selected from NaCl, Na2SO4, ZnO and MgO and organic acid salts selected form formates or acetates of Ca, Zn, Mg may be added to the coating composition as coagulants. The use of the aforesaid coating composition makes it possible to produce cast-coated paper having excellent permeability, gloss and surface strength at a high speed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition producible cast paper having high glass and an uniform cast face by using respectively a specific plastic pigment contained in a pigment and a latex as a binder. CONSTITUTION:The subject composition contains (A) a pigment containing a plastic pigment of a copolymer of an aliphatic conjugated diolefin-based monomer with an olefin-based aromatic monomer or a monoolefin-based monomer as a comonomer and having 70-100 deg.C of the lowest film-forming temperature and 0.3-0.5mum granular diameter in an amount of 3-17wt.% calculated as a solid and (B) a latex binder of a copolymer of an aliphatic conjugated diolefin- based monomer with an olefin-based aromatic monomer or a monoolefin-based monomer as a comonomer. A content of the component B is preferably 10-20 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of the component A.

The weight ratio of the monomer (i) to the monomer (ii) of the component B (i:ii) is 30:70 to 70:30.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition capable of providing excellent glossiness, surface strength and ink setting properties by using a pigment and an adhesive of a synthetic rubber-based binder pigment having a core-shell structure as chief components. Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a coating composition consisting of adhesives consisting of specific two kind of aliphatic conjugated diolefin based monomer-containing polymers and pigment and capable of efficiently producing cast coat paper having excellent gloss face and printability by applying the composition to raw paper, pressing the coated paper to mirror drum and drying the coated paper. CONSTITUTION:A coating composition consisting of adhesive composed of 50-70% latex obtained by polymerizing an aliphatic conjugated diolefin monomer (preferably having -57--29 deg.C glass transition point) with a monomer such as butadiene, styrene or methyl methacrylate at a ratio of 45-60wt.% and 50-30% latex obtained by polymerizing an aliphatic conjugated diolefin monomer (preferably having +12-+42 deg.C glass transition point) with the above-mentioned monomer at a ratio of 15-25% and pigment (e.g. clay) is applied to a raw paper and pressed to mirror drum and dried to provide the cast coat paper without causing pinhole, blister, drum picking, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition imparting a cast coated paper with excellent quality having balanced gloss, surface strength and gas permeability in spite of production at a high speed, by compounding specific amounts of a latex and an acrylic emulsion as an adhesive. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of a pigment with (B) 5-19pts.wt. of a latex having a gel content of >=50% and (C) 3-13pts.wt. of an acrylic emulsion having a gel content of >=50%. A cast coated paper can be produced by coating said composition. It has excellent releasability in spite of high-speed production and gives a cast coated paper having high gloss and good surface strength without causing the generation of pit.
