Abstract: A catalyst useful in the practice of a process, in which (meth)acrylamide is prepared through the hydration reaction between (meth)acrylonitrile and water in a suspended liquid-phase bed of a Raney copper catalyst, has been obtained by leaching a Raney copper alloy in the presence of the Raney copper catalyst which has been deteriorated. The above useful catalyst has higher performances, compared with a catalyst obtained by conventionally leaching the Raney copper alloy alone, has satisfactory handling properties in settling and filtering, and can significantly reduced the amount of catalyst to be discarded.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To secure stabilization of the quality for a long period of time by using as a packing material an inner sack of an air-permeable film or nonwoven fabric and by using a drying agent as filling between the inner sack and an outer sack having a gas-barrier property. CONSTITUTION:Crystallized acrylamide is packed in an inner sack of a moisture- permeable wrapping material such as an air-permeable film or nonwoven fabric. The resulting pack is packed with an intermediate sack of a material having a gas-barrier property and being impermeable to water vapor in air putting a drying agent therebetween. The pack is packed on the exterior side with a packing material such as ordinary multiply kraft paper. Examples of materials applicable to the inner sack are an air-permeable film or nonwoven fabric and a sheet made from polyethylene fibers. For the drying agent a product for packs, such as silica gel, or a like product is applicable; such a drying agent contained in a cloth sack, a container having fine pores, a sack of nonwoven fabric, or the like is used. This constitution makes it possible to prevent moisture in the crystallized product in a pack from undergoing condensation at the interior surface of the inner sack due to changes in temperature during transportation or storage or the like.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance giving finished goods having remarkably improved whiteness and thermal yellowing resistance and advantageous in use, by modifying glyoxal useful as a raw material for various textile finishing agent, paper processing agent, etc., with a specific amount of a group VIII element of periodic table. CONSTITUTION:The objective modified compound is produced by adding 1X10 -1pt.wt. of a group VIII element of the periodic table to 100pts.wt. of glyoxal. The group VIII element is preferably present in the system in a form dissolved in an aqueous solution of glyoxal. Accordingly, it is used generally as a compound soluble in an aqueous solution of glyoxal, however, it may be metallic state provided that it is soluble. The compound containing the group VIII element of the periodic table is e.g. iron chloride, cobalt chloride, iron sulfate, cobalt acetate, etc.
