Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulation displacement contact and a connector showing high reliability when used together with a firmly insulated wire, coping with problems latent in prior technologies in various points.
SOLUTION: The insulation displacement connector of the folded V-shaped contact is changed to enable the use of a firmly insulated wire. A slot 20 separating two contact blades 14, 16 has a constant width through a whole length. Since the slot has no wide-spread openings at its base part, contact is made strongest at the base of the slot. A housing is modified for allowing a narrow gap between the contact and a cavity 42 in a lateral and torsion direction, and the contact is retained by the housing.
