Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card edge connector manufacturable at low cost, having strength, realiability and high circuit density, and functioning well in a high speed digital circuit. SOLUTION: This card edge connector is provided with an elongated housing to define a card receiving slot. A plurality of terminal receiving cavities intersect with the slot, and extend to the both side of the slot. Alternate cavities contains die-cut reference terminal 60 and signal terminals 62. All the terminals 60, 62 have a circuit board contact extending downward and a spring arm 74 extending upward. There are a plurality of the same opposite contact sets, each set includes a reference contact and a pair of opposite signal contacts positioned in parallel and overlapped to the reference contact. The spring arm 74 includes an oversized pad part, strengthening the connection between the terminal 60 and the terminals 62 for reducing signal leakage.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved board fixture for retaining a circuit board connector. SOLUTION: The mounting part of a fixture 1 has an arrowhead shape as a whole, and the center legs thereof are downward projected for the body of a connector 5. In addition, two arms extend upward slantwise and form a V-shape. Each arm is bent at an intermediate part and forms an internally bent projection at an upper part. Also, two projections converge to each other. When attaching the connector 5, the mounting part of the fixture 1 is inserted in the through-hole of a circuit board to the opposite side of a connector housing 2 until the curvature of the arms passes the lower peripheral end of the through- hole of the circuit board. At this position of insertion, the projections externally expand for the peripheral end of the through-hole and firmly hold the connector on the circuit board. Also, the resilient contact of the internally bent projections easily makes a compensation for a deviation from a common difference, while maintaining proper mounting force.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small connector having low inductance and high circuit density by providing a reference terminal with two separated reference terminal spring arms and at least two circuit board contacts, providing a signal terminal with a signal terminal spring arm and a circuit board contact and arranging the two reference terminal spring arms on both sides of a slot and in the other cavity. SOLUTION: A reference terminal 60 is provided with a rectangular, flat plate-like body 64 having retaining arms 66 extending upward on both its ends. A pair of separated circuit board contacts 72 extend downward from the body 64. These contacts are received in a plated through conductive region of a circuit board and connect the reference terminal 60 to the circuit board. Low inductance is provided by using the two separated circuit board contacts 72 for the single reference terminal 60. A pair of opposite spring arms 74 extend upward from the body 64. The spring arms 74 each include a flexible beam comprising a vertical part 76 and an inwardly slanting part 78.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a space by truing up an injector and an installing tool in a straight line, by forming a slender slot for receiving a daughter circuit board in a side wall of an insulating housing, and connecting the slender slot to an installing tool receiving hole by arranging an injector recess on one end of the slot. SOLUTION: An injector 20 is provided in a connector 10 forming a slender slot 14. A part of the injector 20 exists in an injector recess 23 to be supported by the wall part 22. The injector 20 rotates between a state of housing a daughter circuit board in the slot 14 and a state of releasing the daughter circuit board from the slot 14. When the daughter circuit board is housed in the slot 14, a cavity 26 for receiving the side edge of the daughter circuit board forms a main body 24 of the injector 20. This main body 24 forms a handle 28. By rotating this handle 28 to the side outside, the daughter circuit board can be released from the connector 10.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card edge connector capable of being manufactured at low cost, which is strong, having high reliability, having high circuit density, and capable of sufficiently functioning in a high-speed digital circuit. SOLUTION: This card edge connector 12, mounted on a circuit board and for detachably receiving a circuit card, is provided with a long thin housing 26 for forming a card receiving slot 34. Many terminal receiving cavities intersect the slot 34 and extend to both sides. Alternate cavities house a reference terminal and a signal terminal 62, and all terminals are provided with downwardly extending circuit board contacts 72, 92 and upward extending spring arms. There are many similar terminal sets 104, each terminal set is provided with one reference terminal and a pair of facing signal terminals 62 parallel to the reference terminal and overlapped to it. The upward extending spring arm of the reference terminal includes an oversize wide section, the connection between the reference terminal and the signal terminals 62 is strengthened, so that, signal leakage is reduced.

Abstract: ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WITH LOW-INDUCTANCE TERMINAL STRUCTURE A low-inductance electrical connector is provided for connecting an electrical component to a circuit board. In an embodiment, the connector includes a housing having a horizontal base (104), a plurality of walls (106) extending from the base (104) and defining a longitudinal slot (108) for receiving an edge of the electrical component, the walls (106) further defining a plurality of terminal cavities (110) adjacent to the slot(108).The connector further includes a plurality of conductive terminals (112), each of the conductive terminals (112) having a tall portion (116) extending from the base (104) and a resilient contact portion (114) mounted in a respective one of the terminal cavities (110). According to an aspect of the invention, the contact portion (114) Is configured to have minimal total length, thereby decreasing the signal path from the electrical component, through the respective terminal, to the circuit board. As a result, the connector demonstrates low inductive reactance and advantageously may be used in high frequency applications. In an exemplary embodiment, the contact portion (114) has a generally planar body which, In a normal condition, extends generally vertically within the terminal cavity. Also, the contact portion (114) has a bump (122) formed in the body that projects inwardly into the slot (108).

Abstract: A card edge connector for mounting on a circuit board and removeably receiving a circuit card includes an elongated housing defining a card receiving slot. Numerous terminal receiving cavities intersect and extend to both sides of the slot. Alternate cavities include stamped reference (ground or power) terminals and signal terminals, all having downwardly extending board contacts and upwardly extending spring arms. There are numerous similar sets of face to face contacts, each including a reference contact parallel to and substantially overlying an opposed pair of signal contacts. The upwardly extending reference terminal spring arms include oversize pad portions for reducing crosstalk by increasing coupling between the reference and signal terminals. The circuit paths to the circuit board are in an array symmetrical about the centerline of the circuit card, with parallel inner lines of circuits containing only reference contacts and outer lines of circuits containing only signal contacts.
