Abstract:
Free flowing filler composition based on organofunctional silane and/or mixtures of organofunctional silanes possessing mercaptan and blocked mercaptan functionality. The invention also relates to articles of manufacture, particularly tires, made from the elastomer compositions described herein.
Abstract:
An organic functional silane composition is shown and described herein. An organic functional silane composition comprises a mixture of organic functional silane monomers where at least one of the silane monomers comprises two or more alkoxy groups having C1-C2 alkyl groups and at least one of the silane monomers comprises two or more alkoxy groups having an alkyl group of three or more carbon atoms. The organic functional silane compositions can be employed in a coating composition and can improve one or more properties of the coating including, for example, scrub resistance.
Abstract:
The disclosure herein relates to organofunctional silanes.and mixtures of organofunctional silanes possessing mercaptan and hydrocarbyl and/or heterocarbyl functionality. These silanes reduce or eliminate the generation of volatile organic compounds (VOC's) during use, aid in the processing of filled elastomeric materials and enhance the end-use properties of the filled elastomer. The present disclosure relates to a free flowing filler composition comprising these silanes.
Abstract:
This invention relates to novel sulfur-containing silane coupling agents, and organic polymers containing carbon-carbon double bonds. These novel silanes can be carried on organic and inorganic fillers. The invention also relates to articles of manufacture, particularly tires, made from the elastomer compositions described herein.

Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, a hydrolyzable silane of low VOC-generating potential is provided which possesses: (i) at least one organofunctional group, said group being a non-bulky electron-withdrawing group and/or a group which interacts with an organic resin, the organofunctional group being bonded to a silicon atom of a hydrolyzable silyl group through a stable bridging groups; and (ii) at least one hydrolyzable group bonded to silicon and containing at least two heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen, nitrogen and their combinations, hydrolysis of the hydrolyzable group generating a compound having a vapor pressure lower than 0.1 mm Hg at 20 °C. Further in accordance with the invention, a resinous composition of low VOC-generating potential is provided which comprises: a) a resinous composition property-enhancing amount of at least one hydrolyzable silane of low VOC-generating potential which possesses: (i) at least one organofunctional group, said group being a non-bulky electron-withdrawing group and/or a group which interacts with an organic resin (b), the organofunctional group being bonded to a silicon atom of a hydrolyzable silyl group through a stable bridging group, and (ii) at least one hydrolyzable group bonded to silicon and containing at least two heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen, nitrogen and their combinations, hydrolysis of the hydrolyzable group generating a compound having a vapor pressure lower than 0.1 mm Hg at 20 °C; and, b) at least one organic resin containing at least one group capable of reacting with organofunctional group (i) of hydrolyzable silane (a) and/or with water.
Abstract:
The invention relates to sulfur silane coupling agents containing multiple blocked mercapto groups which are in a state of reduced activity until activated. The coupling agents are advantageously used in rubber formulations, for example, for fabricating tires with low rolling resistance.
