Abstract: A semiconductor switch connecting the battery to a light emitting diode, operative for a predetermined period of time in response to the operation of a transceiver power switch if the battery is above a predetermined value and operative in response to the operation of a transmit switch in a constant "on" mode if the battery voltage is above the predetermined value and in a periodic mode if the battery voltage is low.

Abstract: A charger for charging a battery at a first predetermined rate and automatically terminating said charge rate when the battery temperature rises, in response to the charging current, to a point indicating full charge. The battery has a thermistor mounted therein which changes resistance as the battery temperature changes. The charger includes a charging circuit and silicon controlled rectifier in series with the battery. A sensing circuit, coupled to the thermistor, senses a thermistor resistance indicative of less than a full charge and changes from a first to a second state. If the thermistor resistance indicates a full charge, the sensing circuit changes from the second to the first state. A switch circuit connected to the sensing circuit and the rectifier gate electrode is responsive to changes from the first to the second state to trigger the rectifier into conduction and allow charging of the battery at the predetermined rate. A latch circuit connected to the sensing circuit and rectifier gate electrode operates in response to the sensing circuit changing from the second to the first state to inhibit further conduction of the silicon controlled rectifier. The latch circuit is deenergized, allowing further conduction of the silicon controlled rectifier, by removal of the battery from the battery charger.

Abstract: A battery pack includes a resettable protection circuit for limiting the current to a load, which includes a normally nonconductive silicon controlled rectifier and a magnetic reed switch serially connected across a battery. When excessive load current develops, the silicon controlled rectifier is rendered conductive which in turn cuts off a regulating transistor or energizes a relay to prevent current flow to the load. The battery, magnetic reed switch, silicon controlled rectifier and regulating transistor or relay are encased in a sealed container to prevent sparks and arcing and allow usage in a hazardous atmosphere. The silicon controlled rectifier is reset, to allow continued usage of the battery, by actuating the reed switch with an externally supplied magnetic field. Actuation of the reed switch breaks the current path to the silicon controlled rectifier.

Abstract: CM-76332 BATTERY CHARGING AND EMERGENCY SUPPLY CIRCUIT A circuit provides a regulated voltage from a primary source of power to a load and maintains the charge on a battery for standby use. A Zener diode paralleling the battery provides clamping during charging, when batteries are cold, or if the battery should fail open. Power from the primary source is supplied through a transistor having the load in the emitter circuit and having the battery coupled to its base. A lamp, chosen to provide the desired charging current, is coupled across the collector-base junction for forward biasing of the transistor and also provides a visual indication that the primary source is operative.
