Abstract:
A mobile wireless communication device that receives paging information and performs neighbor signal measurements comprises a transceiver (110), and a processor (120, 130) coupled to the transceiver. The processor is configured to perform present signal measurements while receiving present paging information at the transceiver. The processor is further configured to perform reselection processing on prior signal measurements while receiving the present paging information and performing the present signal measurements.

Abstract:
Abstract:
A method for sending acknowledged transport data between a mobile station (202) and a base station system (208) in a GPRS system (200) in which a protocol control unit (214) counts the number of data blocks in an acknowledgement message sent by the mobile station in response to a data packet transmission. A heuristic is then defined, based on the number of data blocks counted, and the number of corresponding data blocks corresponding to a subsequent data packet transmission is compared with the heuristic to determine that a virtual acknowledgement channel is being requested when the number of corresponding data blocks in the subsequent packet data transmission is less than the heuristic.
Abstract:
While engaged in a dedicated channel, a User Equipment (UE) may get stuck on it. A method and the computer program product detects whether the UE is stuck on the dedicated channel ( 202 ). When it is detected that the UE is stuck, the UE or the corresponding network in which the dedicated channel is located carries out a local release of the UE from the dedicated channel ( 204 ), and the UE is placed in idle mode ( 206 ). Locally releasing the UE from the dedicated channel curtails unnecessary battery consumption in the UE and limits wastage of network resources and bandwidth.

Abstract:
A wireless communication apparatus (100) and communication method provides an audio-based call connection operation. For example, one method includes receiving an incoming call message (108) and receiving an input audio answer signal (120), such as a user's voice, in response to the incoming call message (108). This method includes detecting an amplitude or characteristic of the input audio answer signal (120) and sending an answer call message (126) based on the detected amplitude level of the input audio answer signal (120). In another embodiment, the process includes storing the input audio answer signal (120) as preconnection audio information and subsequently sending the preconnection audio information (304b) and subsequently sending the preconnection audio information (304b) as a post connection greeting. For example, a user saying the word "hello," completes the call without any additional greeting required. In another embodiment, prestored audio greeting information, such as key word templates, is used to compare with the input audio answer signal (120) to determine whether to send the answer call message (126) to complete the call connection.
Abstract:
Reselection methods for wireless communication devices, for example cellular telephones, that reduce power consumption by receiving periodic paging information (210) concurrently with the performance of periodic signal measurements (230) and reselection processing (250) to increase minimal power consumption mode operation. In some embodiment, the reselection processing (252) is performed on prior signal measurements (230) while obtaining present signal measurement data (240).
