Abstract:
A method and apparatus determines a location of a wireless device (102) by obtaining broadcast system based location information (130) and cellular system based location information (125). Broadcast system based location information (130) may be, for example, data representing the location of an event that is sent by a broadcast system (140, 160). Cellular system based location information (125) may be, for example, data representing the location of a wireless device (102). A comparison between the broadcast based location information (130) and cellular system based location information (125) is made to determine if they are suitably correlated. In one embodiment, if the event and wireless device are close enough in proximity, maps based on the broadcast based location information and the cellular system based location information are visually superimposed for a user to view.
