    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of components and space factor by linking a third terminal of a first transistor element and a third terminal of a second transistor element with multiple band mixer output and linking the first and second transistor elements to output an intermediate frequency signal by responding to communication signals in first and second frequency bands. SOLUTION: Collector terminals of the transistor elements 313, 324 are connected with the output 104 via a filtering circuit 204 to pass only the intermediate signal. Regarding a filtering circuit 206, an inductor 336 and a capacitor 338 are serial resonance circuits in injected frequency and become comparatively low impedance in communication signal frequency. Output frequency of an inductor 337 is antiresonant in the multiple band mixer output 104. A GSM mixer is matched to be 50-ohm by a capacitor 312 and an inductor 310. A capacitor 308 and the inductor 310 are close to serial resonance in the output frequency.

    Abstract: In a mobile phone, separate mixer transistors 313 and 324 are provided for the GSM and DCS bands (900 MHz and 1.8 GHz). A single local oscillator, which may be controlled to provide an output at 1.3GHz or 1.4GHz, provides a signal to the emitter of each mixer transistor. The communication signals are applied to the respective base terminals, and the collector terminals are coupled to a common IF filter 206. Filter 203 in the emitter circuit provides a low impedance to the RF and IF frequencies. Alternatively (figure 4), the GSM and DCS signals may be combined in a diplexer arrangement (402,404) and fed to a single mixer transistor (400). MOSFETs or FETs may be used instead of bipolar transistors.
