Abstract: A radio telephone interface apparatus for speed dialing any of a plurality of stored sequences of digits forming telephone numbers. Pre-stored telephone numbers are stored in an electronic memory. Actuation of switches permits either sequential access to each of the stored telephone numbers or direct, nonsequential access to a desired set of stored telephone numbers. When the telephone numbers are sequentially access, mneumonic information associated with each one of the telephone numbers is provided to a voice synthesizer to provide an aural indication of the telephone numbers stored within individual ones of the directory locations.

Abstract: An interface and cable, has a standard telephone jack connector (210) which connects to either a telephone line or a radiotelephone. The standard telephone jack connector allows use of a conventional telephone cable between the data modem and a telephone line. When connection to a radiotelephone is desired, a special cable (320) for the radiotelephone connects to the joint connector. A detection circuit 250 senses signals received at the joint connector to determine whether the joint connector (210) is coupled to the telephone line or the radiotelephone. A control switch (240) configures the data modem for the telephone line or for the radiotelephone based on the determination.

Abstract: A unique cellular telephone (500) includes audio circuit (502), microcomputer (508), indicators (506 and 507), cellular telephone transceiver (519), and keypad controller (504) for controlling the operating modes thereof and automatically placing and receiving cellular telephone calls dialed in any pattern. The keypad includes numerical keys (0-9, # and *) and function keys (MEM and END/CLEAR) for entering digits of telephone number and key sequences for selecting operating modes. Power is applied to the cellular telephone transceiver (519) in response to concurrent activation of at least two keys. Each telephone number digit is detected and accumulated by microcomputer (508) and, after a pause of four seconds, the accumulated digits are sent via a data bus (511) to cellular telephone transceiver (519) for placing a telephone call. The call is subsequently terminated when the END key is activated or an END command is received by the cellular telephone transceiver (519). Thereafter, power to the cellular telephone transceiver (519) may be turned off in response to activation of the MEM-END key sequence.
