Abstract:
A radio communication system with adaptive interleaving selects between chip interleaving and bit interleaving depending upon the number of active code signals. A transmitted RF signal includes a coded information signal part and a control signal part that indicates a number of active code signals that have been combined to form the coded information signal part. The system is especially suited for MC-CDMA systems.

Abstract:
A radio communication system (12) with adaptive interleaving (18, 20 or 24) selects between chip interleaving (24) and bit interleaving (18) depending upon the number of active code signals (14). A transmitted RF signal (26) includes a coded information signal part and a control signal part that indicates a number of active code signals that have been combined to form the coded information signal part. The system (12) is especially suited for MC-CDMA systems.
