Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting up a session initiation protocol exchange between a wireless communication device and a network. SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: requesting a channel; receiving an allotment; transmitting a request for connection management service; receiving an authentication request; receiving a ciphering mode command; transmitting a ciphering mode completion; determining whether an associated control channel is set up; transmitting a packet resource request in a dedicated control channel to make it possible to transmit, through the dedicated control channel, a message related to setting of the session initiation protocol exchange as a result of determination that the associated control channel is not set up; transmitting a packet control acknowledgement; and transmitting an SIP message through the associated control channel. Abstract:
A method (500, 600) and apparatus (200) for handover of a communication device (120) between a first network (130) and a second network (140) while the communication device is in an ongoing communication. The communication device can register with the second network (610). The communication device can also enter an ongoing communication via the first network (620). The communication device can send a transfer request to the second network to request a handover of the ongoing communication between the first network and the second network without interrupting the ongoing communication (640).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for managing in a mobile subscriber the traffic flow of a communication connection during a cell reselection. The method includes communicating via a communication connection with a first cell, and monitoring communication conditions, while communicating with the first cell. An approximate time is then determined, when conditions associated with the flow of communication via the communication connection with the first cell is consistent with transferring the flow of communication to a communication connection with a second cell. The mobile subscriber then establishes a communication connection with the second cell, while maintaining the communication connection with the first cell. The method further includes routing the flow of the communication from the communication connection with the first cell to the communication connection with the second cell, and releasing by the mobile subscriber the communication connection with the first cell, proximate the time that the flow of communication is routed from the communication connection with the first cell to the communication connection with the second cell.
Abstract:
A wireless communication system ( 100 ) is configured to send signaling messages through a cell broadcast service (CBS). CBS message pages used to transport signaling messages are identified by assigned message identifiers. Mobile devices ( 114 ) within the communication system ( 100 ) recognize the CBS messages transporting signaling messages by the message identifiers and pass the signaling messages to an appropriate application or control program module. The message identifier may be used to specify the application or control program module to process the signaling message. The signaling messages transported by the CBS may be used in controlling a multicasting or broadcasting service. Duplicate copies of the CBS message pages may be transmitted and then buffered at the mobile device ( 114 ) as they are received until all parts of the signaling message have been received.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A radiotelephone device receiving network information, transmitted along a radio channel, from a network includes an acknowledgement coordination module determining a mode for exchange of acknowledgement information with the network. The radiotelephone device transmits the acknowledgement information to the network through a main dedicated control channel, using a defined service access point identifier corresponding to transmission of the acknowledgement information through the main dedicated control channel, in response to the mode for exchange of acknowledgement information being the main dedicated control channel. The radiotelephone device transmits the acknowledgement information to the network using a temporary block flow acknowledgement interchange in response to the mode for exchange of acknowledgement information being other than the main dedicated control channel.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus method of filtering packet data for an anonymous user device in a packet data network communication system includes a first step of defining a special context information element containing special context information. A next step includes sending the special context information element in an activate packet data protocol (PDP) context request to a network to initiate a call from an anonymous user device. A next step includes configuring the data packets so that only the special context is allowed. A next step includes assigning an interim IP address to the user device. A next step includes mapping the data packets of the configuring step to the interim IP address of the user device. A next step includes defining permissible routing identities per the special context. A next step includes routing the data packets between only those permissible routing identities from the defining step.
Abstract:
A radiotelephone device receiving network information (Fig. 4) receives a mode for exchange of acknowledgement information determined and transmitted from a network acknowledgement module (steps 300 and 302). The radiotelephone transmits the acknowledgement information with to the network through a main dedicated control channel (step 304) in response to the mode information. Otherwise the radiotelephone device transmits acknowledgement using a temporary block flow acknowledgement interchange in response to the mode being other than the main dedicated control channel (step 308, 310, and 312).
