Abstract:
A method of managing passwords to network resources (102 - 110) in a computer or communication network (100) comprising the steps of generating (204), by an access and password management unit (112), a new password to at least one network resource from a group of network resources (102 - 110) registered with the access and password management unit (112); establishing (206) a secure connection between the access and password management unit (112) and the one network resource; replacing (208) an old password to the network resource with the new password using the secure connection; storing (210) the new password in a password repository in the access and password management unit.(Fig 2). Independent claims to network resource access management by the access and password management unit (112) are also included. The user of a computer (114) is verified and authorised and then provided access (320) to registered network resources (102-110). (Fig 3). Another independent claim defines the access and password management unit's structure. (Fig. 4).
Abstract:
A method of controlling location information of subscribers (210, 212, 222) in a wireless, ad-hoc communications network (200). The network (200) comprises a plurality of nodes (204, 216, 226), wherein at least portion of said nodes are provided with Home Location Registers (HLRs) (206, 218, 228) and each of said nodes (204, 216, 226) has a Visitor Location Register (VLR) (208, 220, 230). When an operation of a first node (216) is to be reconfigured at least a part of records from a first HLR (218) assigned to said first node (216) are transferred to at least one of the other nodes (226) of the network (200).
Abstract:
A base station (101) for a cellular communication system is coupled to a fixed network (107) and receives text strings for transmission to remote units (103, 105). The base station includes a receive processor (111) which receives a first text string encoded in a first encoding format. The receive processor (111) is coupled to a conversion processor (113) which converts the first text string to a second text string at least partially encoded in a second encoding format. The first encoding format may be an UTF-8 or UTF-16 text encoding format and the second encoding format may be an ASCII text encoding format. The conversion processor (113) is coupled to a transceiver (115) which transmits the second text string to the remote units (103, 105).
Abstract:
A wireless communications network (100) comprising a plurality of sites, each of which is served by a base transceiver station (102, 106, 110, 114, 118, 122, 126, 130). The base transceiver stations (102, 106, 110, 114, 118, 122, 126, 130) are connected with other elements of infrastructure (134-142) and at least one of said base transceiver stations (102) comprises means (104) for determining its geographical location. Said base transceiver station (102) is adapted to be moved from a first geographical location to a second geographical location. A first database (146) is configured to store location data of said base transceiver stations (102, 106, 110, 114, 118, 122, 126, 130). The network (100) further comprises a controller (144) configured to receive location data from the at least one base transceiver station (102) and from the first database (146) and to determine adjacency of sites.
Abstract:
A mobile communication system (100) includes a system infrastructure (101, 103, 105, 107) and a plurality of mobile stations (209, 211) operable to communicate via the infrastructure, wherein the infrastructure is operable to hold a plurality of databases (402, 403, 404) each comprising an HLR (home location register) which records data concerning mobile stations or pre-defined groups of mobile stations of the system, wherein each of the databases is operable to receive updated data for its own recordal and to distribute the updated data to the other one or more databases for recordal therein, wherein each of the databases is operable to record the updated data including a time stamp to indicate a time of updating, receipt or recordal of the data .
