Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the high gain performance of a conventional single-band antenna structure in a compact and simple structure by placing an antenna element having a conductive straight part and the 1st and 2nd spiral coils which are juxtaposed to the antenna element and with a certain coil distance secured from each other. SOLUTION: An antenna element having a conductive straight part 140 is prepared together with the 1st and 2nd spiral coils 110 and 120 which are juxtaposed to the antenna element to secure the electromagnetic connection to the part 140. Both coils 110 and 120 are placed with a certain mast distance secured from the bottom end of the part 140 and also with a certain coil distance secured from each other, respectively. Thus, the electromagnetic connection is weakened between the coils 110 and 120. Meanwhile, the electromagnetic concussion of both coils is strengthened to the part 140.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the small sized multi-band antenna structure that has a high gain performance equal to that of a conventional single band antenna structure. SOLUTION: A 1st coil 110 resonated at a 1st frequency and a 2nd coil 120 resonated at a 2nd frequency are coupled with a conductive straight part of an antenna element 130 to form the multi-band antenna structure. The 1st and 2nd coils 110, 120 are preferably different axial length and circumference to each other and placed coaxially around the antenna element 130 that is wound in an opposite direction. Thus, an additional coil to support an additional band is added and an upper coil 150 is used to realize a multi-position structure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable which has approximate RF invisibility in an RF band of interest, having a flexibility and can be used in a variety of test forms.
SOLUTION: A flexible test cable has a center conductor (210), a conductive sleeve (240) with an effective electrical length equal to an odd quarter wavelength of a frequency of interest, a dielectric spacer (230) located inside the conductive sleeve (240) for preventing a portion of the center conductor (210) from electrically coupling to the conductive sleeve (240), and a dielectric joint (220) for maintaining a portion of the center conductor (210) in the middle of an end of the conductive sleeve (240). The dielectric spacer (230) can be formed in a variety of shapes from rigid or compressible dielectric materials. Using the dielectric joint (220) to link together multiple conductive sleeves (240) results in a flexible test cable (200) with electrical transparency at the frequency of interest.

SOLUTION: In a differentially-driven diversity antenna structure 200 and its method for portable radio communication equipment 230, a first linear antenna 240 is arranged in parallel with a main axis 245 of the communication equipment 230, and double radiators 252 and 254 of a second antenna 250 are driven with the same amplitude, and at the some time with a 180 deg. phase difference between them. The differentially-driven diversity antenna structure constituted in the communication equipment 230 maintains a large uncorrelation between the first and second antennas 240 and 250 over the common frequency range of the double radiators 252 and 254. In addition, the effects of an antenna current on the main body of the communication equipment on the hand or body of the user of the equipment 230 is reduced, by reducing the antenna current to a minimum.

Abstract: A wireless communication device (200) comprising an antenna system is disclosed. The antenna system includes a first plate conductor (202) and a second plate conductor (204) that can interact capacitively. The first plate conductor (202) and the second plate conductor (204) have surfaces that are at least partially overlapping and are in close proximity to each other. The antenna system further includes one or more feed points (206). In some embodiments, the antenna system will include one or more localized complex impedances (802) coupled to at least one of the first plate conductor (202) and the second plate conductor (204) proximate a respective edge for modifying the corresponding electrical length. In further embodiments, at least one of the first plate conductor (202) and the second plate conductor (204) will form at least a portion of the external housing of the wireless communication device (200).

Abstract: A dual band antenna for a radio transceiver includes an inductively loaded conductor of a predetermined length with feedpoint located substantially central of the conductor. Radiator elements terminate the ends of the conductor and a ground plane terminates the radiator elements. An adjustable balanced impedance matching circuit is coupled to the feedpoint. Dual banding elements couple to the impedance matching circuit with a high Q, parallel resonant circuit element. Input and output circuits are also coupled to the dual banding elements. The design minimizes the effect on the antenna operation by the proximity of the user's hands and head since the high impedance portion of the antenna is confined to the center thereof.

Specifically, the signal coupler (24) includes a transformer that is primarily located within the hinge formed by the housing of the radio and a rotatable flip portion (18). Substantially constant inductive coupling is maintained in the coupler regardless of rotation. The antenna (24) is capable of operating in a narrow band and a wide band mode to afford antenna operation through varied conditions.
