Un método en un dispositivo portátil de comunicaciones (100) que aloja un transmisor de radio frecuencia y un receptor del sistema de posicionamiento por satélite (110, 400), incluyendo el método: producir una señal de interferencia con el transmisor de radio frecuencia; detectar (210) la presencia de la señal de interferencia (307, 308, 309) en el receptor del sistema de posicionamiento por satélite después de que la señal de interferencia entra en el receptor del sistema de posicionamiento por satélite; teniendo la señal de interferencia una configuración que es conocida antes de la detección; reducir (230) la señal de interferencia suprimiendo el receptor del sistema de posicionamiento por satélite con una señal de supresión (342, 344, 346) que tiene una configuración similar a la señal de interferencia sincronizada con la señal de interferencia.
