    Abstract: An antenna assembly for a radio includes an antenna shaft which is translatable between a retracted position and a protracted position. The antenna shaft is translatable through a support tube which is affixed in position with the radio.     Abstract: The latching system of the present invention uses a ribbed (301, 302) latch (300) molded into the battery housing, a depression latch (504) molded into the radiotelephone housing, and rail connectors (220, 320) molded into the radiotelephone housing to connect a battery (350) to a radiotelephone (200). The battery housing slides along the rail connectors until the battery housing latch (300) engages into the radiotelephone latch (210). The battery housing (350) is removed from the radiotelephone housing (200) by depressing the upper portion (300) of the battery housing latch, thus rotating it out of the depression latch (200) and allowing the battery housing to be slid off the radiotelephone housing (200).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure rigid fitting by composing a housing assembly of first and second housings for limiting outer circumferential movement of first fitting outer circumference which has a tab and second fitting outer circumference having a slot. SOLUTION: Rear face housing part 106 forms a housing shell having an outer surface 302, an inner surface 304 and a fitting outer circumference 306 extending along the wall of the housing shell. The back housing part 106 is provided with at least a first tab, e.g. a tab 323, along a part of the fitting outer circumference 306. The front housing part 104 is provided with at least a first slot, e.g. a slot 315, along a part of a fitting outer circumference 376. The fitting outer circumference 306 is fitted with the fitting outer circumference 376 to form a part of upper housing 102 (at least a part of the housing), where at least the first tab is inserted into the first slot. At least the first tab and the first slot are constituted, such that movement thereof along the fitting outer circumferences 306, 376 is limited between the front and rear housings 104, 106.

    Abstract: A releasable antenna attachment and positioning mechanism for a mobile 'phone comprises a bottom plate 380 for mounting the mechanism on the 'phone, a spring biased bearing plate 360 for positioning an attached antenna w.r.t. the 'phone, a middle plate 340 which retains the antenna in either of two deployed positions (Figures 9 and 10) or in a stored position (Figure 8), a spring loaded latch member 320 actuatable by a button 396 for attaching and detaching the antenna, and a top plate 302. By depressing the button and aligning the detents (220, 224, 226 Figure 2) on the stem of the antenna (200, Figure 2) with the projections 346 and 372 in the mechanisms the antenna may be inserted into or removed from the mechanism. The spring 374 biasing the bearing plate enables rotation of the inserted antenna whilst allowing the antenna to be retained in the three positions due to the abutment 376 on the spring and the detents 366, 370, and 372 on the bearing plate.
