Abstract:
A method/data processing system for controlling the activities of real 302 and virtual 308 entities such as a pet preferably by monitoring and analyzing a real entity's activities and providing responses to affect virtual and real behaviour patterns, according to pre-established rules (109, fig. 1). The method comprising steps of: collecting information about the real entity's behaviour preferably by using a Real-time Monitoring and Vir tualization (RMV) utility (110, fig. 1) incorporating monitors 303; creating a model of the behavior of the real entity preferably by the RMV utility; mapping one or more first characteristics of the behaviour of the real entity to one or more second characteristics of a behaviour of a virtual entity; from the monitored and mapped characteristics, preferably via the RMV utility, identifying desired behavior patterns (i.e., responses) for the virtual entity, according to pre-established rules. Preferably via the RMV utility, triggering actions of the real entity corresponding to the responses selected for the desired behavior patterns of the virtual entity.
Abstract:
A method and system is provided for customization of a graphical user interface (GUI) of a communication device in a communication network. The method includes customization of the GUI of the communication device based on one or more of user preferences and user interaction patterns pertaining to a plurality of services accessed by a user of the communication device. The method further comprises customization of the GUI of the communication device based on a predefined set of rules.
Abstract:
A method (400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900) of providing a shared virtual lounge experience. The method can include analyzing one or more messages communicated from a first participant (104) in a virtual world (102) to a second participant (106) in the virtual world to determine at least one context (110) of the message(s). Based on the determined context of the message(s), a context-specific virtual lounge (112) can be dynamically created to pertain to the determined context and host participant interactions.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device acquires membership (702) in a predefined group, joins (704) an ad hoc network associated with the predefined group, and joins and participates (706) in a first session established through an infrastructure device for distributing media to the predefined group. If (710) the wireless communication device is a duplicator node for the ad hoc network, then it receives (708) the media from the infrastructure device and distributes (712) the media other nodes of the ad hoc network, otherwise it receives (708) the media from the duplicator node. The infrastructure device identifies the duplicator node for each ad hoc network associated with the predefined group and each member of the predefined group that is not a node of any of the ad hoc networks and distributes the media only to these members of the predefined group.

Abstract:
A system and method of assigning access privileges in a social network includes a first step (100) of determining a vector of social network characteristics of a member of the social network. A next step (102) includes computing a distance between vectors of social network characteristics of the member and other members of the social network already having defined access privileges. An optional next step (104) includes deciding whether the distance is less than a threshold. A next step (106) includes assigning the member the same access privilege of another member of the social network having the smallest distance from the vector of the member.
Abstract:
A data management system (100) including a knowledge container creator module (118) operative to create at least a first data descriptor item (112) and at least a second data descriptor item (114) based upon a raw data item (110). The raw data item (110) is capable of containing data representing raw data that is in one of a plurality of different formats. The knowledge container creator module (118) also operative to link the raw data item (110) to at the least a first data descriptor item (112) and to link the raw data item (110) to the at least a second data descriptor item (114).
Abstract:
An apparatus and method of telecommunication network resource management based on social network characteristics includes a first step (200) of retrieving data relating to social network characteristics associated with a user. A next step (202) includes computing social network metrics based on the data. A next step (204) includes defining a priority score for a session with the user based on the social network metrics. A next step (206) includes assigning resources for the communication session based on the priority score, wherein the resources can include a power operational mode for the session.

Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and electronic device for hierarchical communications are disclosed. A connection interface (1260) may receive a query. A processor (1210) may select an initial expert from the hierarchical expert tree based upon the query and direct the query towards the initial expert. A session initiation protocol server 418 may generate a hierarchical expert tree from an expert pool.
