Abstract: Un filtre de resonateur helicoidal comprend plusieurs bobines helicoidales (11), chacune etant mise a la terre a une extremite (31) et libre a l'autre extremite et contenue dans une cavite (15, 16, 17). Les bobines (11) sont couplees entre elles electromagnetiquement par l'intermediaire d'ouvertures (21, 22) dans les parois conductrices (19, 20) separant les cavites du resonateur (15, 16, 17) les unes des autres. Un organe dielectrique (41) est introduit dans les ouvertures (19, 20) pour augmenter l'accouplement entre les bobines adjacentes (11) de maniere a augmenter la largeur de bande du filtre.

Abstract: The present invention, by the use of a conductive coupling unit, increases the bandwidth beyond the maximum bandwidth afforded by a conventional helical resonator filter, without increasing its given physical size. The helical resonator filter (Figs. 1, 2 and 3) comprising two or more helical coils (16, 17) is provided with the conductive coupling element (12, 33) between the helical coils for modifying the filter bandwidth. The coupling element (12, 33) is a conductor and is positioned in the maximum of the electrical field at the open end (Fig. 1) of the helical coils or at the maximum of the magnetic field at the grounded end (Fig. 3) of the coils, for creating a controlled change incapacitive (electrical) or inductive (magnetic) coupling, respectively. A block (61 in Fig. 4) of suitable dielectric with grooves (62) for receiving the coupling element (12) and the ribs (81, 83 in Fig. 6) on the inside of a conductive cover (84) can be used to center the coupling element (12) and the whole filter assembly structure when the cover (84) is put in place (Fig. 5) and clamps the block (61) securely to the base of the filter. Additional coupling elements (12 or 33) can be used in a similar manner as above when additional helical coils (16, 17) are used in a filter.
