Abstract:
An acknowledge-back selective call system (100) transmits a first acknowledge-back page (300) that includes a first message data (306) and address information (302) that matches a first predetermined address (140) at an acknowledge-back selective call transceiver (130) and a second acknowledge-back page (300) that includes a second message data (306) and address information (302) that matches a second predetermined address (142) at the acknowledge-back selective call transceiver (130). The acknowledge-back selective call transceiver (130) receives the second acknowledge-back page (300), and, in response thereto, transmits an acknowledge-back confirmation response (500), the acknowledge-back confirmation response (500) including a message reception status information (502) indicating a message reception status for the first acknowledge-back page (300) and a message reception status information (504) indicating a message reception status for the second acknowledge-back page (300).
Abstract:
A selective call receiver (100) comprising a receiver (103), a controller (105), and means for presenting a recovered source document (113). The receiver (100) provides a received paging message that was generated from the facsimile message of the original source document, then the received paging message comprising at least one portion of the original source document and an address is interpreted and decoded by the controller. Using the means for presenting (113), the recovered source document can be exhibited in a format that substantially resembles the facsimile message of the original source document.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reliably delivering messages (200) from a central terminal (102) to a communication receiver (130) in a communication system (100), such as an electronic mail system. The central terminal (102) transmits messages (1300) to the communication receiver (130) and the communication receiver (130) receives transmitted messages (1300) over a first communication medium (122). The communication receiver (130) reconciles messages that it failed to receive over the first communication medium (122) with the central terminal (102) over a second communication medium (152). The reconciliation process between the communication receiver (130) and the central terminal (102) utilizes message identifiers (1308) transmitted with the messages (1300) to identify the messages (1300) being reconciled.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reliably delivering messages (200) from a central terminal (102) to a communication receiver (130) in a communication system (100), such as an electronic mail system. The central terminal (102) sequentially transmits messages (200) to the communication receiver (130) and the communication receiver (130) receives transmitted messages (200) over a first communication medium (122). The communication receiver (130) reconciles messages that it failed to receive over the first communication medium (122) with the central terminal (102) over a second communication medium (152). The reconciliation between the communication receiver (130) and the central terminal (102) utilizes message sequence identifiers (208) transmitted with the messages (200) that identify the transmission sequence of the sequentially transmitted messages (200).
