A combined polarimetric and coherent processing receiver (2300) can include at least one antenna (730 and 740), at least one receiver front end (700 and 704), a multipath processor (702, 706, and 714), a polarimetric signal processor (708), and a coherent processor (712). The multipath processor can be a plurality of correlators (702 and 706) coupled to the receiver front end(s) and can process the desired signal arriving from multiple paths coupled to the receiver. The polarimetric signal processor which can include a plurality of adaptive polarimetric filters (710) can be coupled to the multipath processor and can polarimetrically filter signals that are distinguishable from the desired signal. The coherent processor can be coupled to the polarimetric signal processor and can coherently combine the polarimetric filtered signal. The coherent processor can include time varying complex coefficients (714) and a signal combiner (716).
Abstract:
A method and a system for enabling an enhanced operating mode of a mobile communication device ( 102 ) are disclosed. The method includes receiving ( 502 ) an authorization message from an authority ( 104 ) that is capable of communicating wirelessly with the mobile communication device. The authorization message is then checked ( 504 ) for authenticity of the authority. On authentication of the authorization message, the enhanced operating mode of the mobile communication device is enabled ( 506 ), allowing communication between the authority and the mobile communication device, even in emergencies.

A method (300) of selecting a financial account to be used to make a contactless payment. The method can include, during a payment transaction at a point-of-sale terminal (110), selecting at least one financial account having associated financial information, the financial account selected from a plurality of available financial accounts. Contactless payment for the purchase can be made using the selected financial account. The method further can include identifying a type of purchase being made during the payment transaction. In such an arrangement, selecting the financial account can include selecting the financial account having associated financial information that best matches user preferences established for the identified type of purchase.

A system, method and computer readable medium for communicating data over a voice channel on a wireless device (300) is disclosed. The method on a wireless device (300) includes establishing an audio connection with a second device and providing an interface (326) for a user for sending data to the second device. The method further includes detecting the activation of the interface (326) by the user and sending a first data to the second device during the audio connection with the second device, wherein the quality of the audio connection is not affected by the sending. The method further includes receiving a second data from the second device, the second data being associated with the first data and preferably synchronizing the first data with the second data. Information, such as Vcard information, can be wirelessly exchanged between devices communicating data over a voice channel during an audio connection.

The invention concerns a system (100) for monitoring an animal. The system can include a collar (110) having a transceiver (122) and a leash (112) having a transceiver (134) in which the collar transceiver and the leash transceiver may communicate with one another. When the leash and the collar move out of a communication range of one another, the collar can initiate a tracking procedure to allow the location of an animal wearing the collar to be determined. In one arrangement, the collar can further include a GPS receiver (120). When the tracking procedure is initiated, the GPS receiver can determine the location of the animal wearing the collar.
