    Abstract: A gradient interpenetrating polymer network electrolyte (56) for a rechargeable electrochemical cell, and a rechargeable electrochemical cell including said electrolyte (56). The interpenetrating polymer network electrolyte (56) consists of a first polymeric material (58) having a first set of electrochemical and morphological characteristics, and a second polymeric material (62) having a second set of electrochemical and morphological characteristics.
