    Abstract: A fastener for fastening front and rear housing portions of a housing assembly (600) theretogether. A resilient tongue member (100) in fig. 3 affixed to a surface of the rear housing portion to extend upwardly therefrom. A beveled, top edge surface of the resilient tongue member (100) defines a ramped, face surface (130) which extends to a back-angled, force-receiving surface (136). A hook member (200) positioned beneath the front housing portion is positioned to permit mated engagement with the tongue member (100). The hook member (200) is permitted elastic deformation responsive to application of forces thereupon by the ramped, face surface (130) of the resilient tongue member (100) during translation of the hook (200) and tongue member (100) into a fastening position. Once positioned in a fastening position, hook member (200) returns to a nondeformed state, to fasten tongue member (100) in position thereat, thereby to fasten the front and rear housing portions theretogether.

    Abstract: A fastener (100, 200, 300) for fastening at least two tandemly-positioned surfaces (106, 206) such as opposing surfaces of a housing assembly, theretogether. The fastener includes first (100) and second (200) hook members which are affixed in a defined relationship with top (106) and bottom (206) surfaces which are to be affixed theretogether. A clip (300) formed of a multi-slotted plate member (306, 312) having slotted openings (318, 330) of dimensions corresponding to the dimensions of the hook members, and hence, the top and bottom surfaces theretogether. By affixing the clip (300) to a substrate (344) positioned between the top and bottom surfaces, the single clip (300) may be utilized to fasten the substrate (344) in position between the top (106) and bottom (206) surfaces.

    Abstract: An antenna assembly (100), and associated method, for a radio, such as a portable radiotelephone, which is of minimal physical dimensions and which is operable over a wide range of frequencies. A length of wire (106) is helically-shaped and includes at least a portion of winding. A capacitive top-hat (136) is positioned at an end portion of the wire. By increasing the number of windings of the wire (106), the height of the antenna assembly is reduced, but such reduction also reduces the size of the bandwidth of frequencies over which the antenna assembly is operable. Increase in the size of the surface area of the capacitive top-hat (136) increases the size of the bandwidth over which the antenna assembly is operable. Selection of the top-hat size and the number of windings permits both physical dimensions of the antenna assembly and the size of the bandwidth to be selected.

    Abstract: An electrically-conductive, elastomeric connector (100) for electrically connecting an electrical circuit disposed upon a substrate (398) having an electrically-conductive edge portion (399) which forms a portion of electrical circuit with an electrically-conductive cover (392) which covers at least a portion of the substrate. The elastomeric connector comprises a tubular-shaped body (106) and a central aperture (118) extending through the tubular-shaped body. Compressive forces exerted against the tubular-shaped body when positioned against the electrically-conductive cover (392) causes seating of the tubular-shaped body against the electrically-conductive cover. First and second claw arms (148, 154) extend beyond a side surface positioned in opposition to the seating surface (136) of the tubular-shaped body. The claw arms are affixed about an edge portion of the substrate (398). The side surface (142) positioned in opposition to the seating surface abuts against the electrically-conductive edge portion of the substrate to be electrically connected therewith.
