Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily generate a reference reception signal, by generating first a reference signal in a video band corresponding to the scattering coefficient of a target, and then by converting the same in frequency into a signal in an RF band by using a stabilized locally-oscillated signal having the same frequency with that of the transmission frequency of a radar. CONSTITUTION:An I reference signal generating device 1 and a Q reference signal generating device 2 generate reference signals in a video band corresponding to the scattering coefficient of a target. A local oscillator 5 oscillates a sine- wave signal having the same frequency with the transmission frequency of a synthetic aperture radar, and this signal is distributed in two directions by a distributor 6. One of the distributed signals turns to be a STALO (STABLE- LOCAL-OSCILLATOR) signal L1 of a mixer 3, while the other is shifted at an angle of 90 degrees by a phase shifter 7 and turns to be a STALO signal of a mixer 4. Reference signals from the signal generating devices 1 and 2 are each converted in frequency into RF signals by the mixers 3 and 4 and composed by a composer 8. By this constitution, a reference reception signal of the synthetic aperture radar can be generated with ease.
