    Abstract: A shaped beam antenna of the type comprising a main reflector (30) and a feed horn (20) for irradiating an electromagnetic wave upon said main reflector (30), the main reflector (30) including, in sectional planes inclusive of a Y - Z plane and planes parallel thereto, a central section and horizontal side end sections adjoining the central section, where Cartesian coordinates are assumed having an origin near the feed horn (20), a Z-axis extending in a direction of the horizontal center axis of the feed horn (20), and X- and Y-axes extending in planes perpendicular to the Z-axis. The central section has a plurality of torus reflector segments (34, 37, 38) and each of the side end sections has a plurality of parabolic reflector segments (35-1, 36-1, 39-1, 35-2, 36-2, 39-2), and the torus and parabolic reflector segments are grouped into first and second portions, the first portion having the reflector segments (34, 35-1, 35-2) which are symmetrical with respect to the Y-Z plane, the second portion having first and second sub-portions, the reflector segments (37, 36-1, 36-2, 38, 39-1, 39-2) of the first and second sub-portions being asymmetrical with respect to the Y-Z plane, whereby the maximum radiation direction of the beam reflected from the first portion lies in the Y-Z plane, and the maximum radiation direction of the beam reflected from the second portion lies in planes other than the Y-Z plane.

    Abstract: A horn antenna for radiating or receiving a microwave is provided with a plurality of axially spaced radial fins fixedly mounted on the outer surface of the horn, which fins form a plurality of radial groove and a front axial groove each having a depth of approximately equal to a quarter of A wavelength of the microwave. Those fins and grooves form a choke surface-wave structure which improves the radiation pattern and reduces undesired radiation and side lobe. A multimode horn arrangement for a higher frequency wave is employed for with horn so that two different frequency waves are efficiently radiated or received at a single horn antenna with a reduced side lobe and an excellent cross polarization characteristic.

    Abstract: A shaped beam antenna comprises an array antenna having a planar surface on which a plurality of radiating elements are arranged, and a main reflector disposed behind with respect to the radiating direction of the array antenna. The main reflector comprises a plurality of partial cylindrical or planar reflector segments. Where Cartesian coordinates is assumed having an origin in the center of the planar surface of the array antenna, an X-axis extending in a vertical center axis of the array antenna, a Z-axis extending in a direction perpendicular to the planar surface through the origin, and a Y-axis, extending in a direction perpendicular to the X- and Z-axes through the origin, the shaped beam antenna is characterized in that the longitudinal axis of each reflector segments is in parallel with the X-axis, the main reflector is symmetrical with respect to the X-Z plane and formed convex in a negative direction of the Z-axis, and each radiating element is disposed so that its excitation amplitude is symmetrical with respect to the Y-Z plane and its excitation phase is antisymmetrical with respect to the Y-Z plane, whereby a radiation beam formed by the main reflector is symmetrical with respect to the Z-axis on the Y-Z plane and is asymmetrical with respect to the Z-axis on said X-Z plane. Thus, with this antenna, a good beam shaping performance and an excellent cross polarization discrimination can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce coupling between two radio waves while keeping the mount area small even when the two radio waves are circularly polarized waves differing in rotating directions each other in the thin antenna handling the two radio waves differing in the frequencies each other. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical void 3 or a coaxial void equipped with a circular slit 2 in one bottom is surrounded by a coaxial void 5, and a circular slit 4 is provided in the bottom on the side of the slit 2 of the coaxial void 5. Coaxial lines 6 and 7 are provided in the cylindrical void 3 or the coaxial void and coaxial lines 8 and 9 are provided in the coaxial void 5 so that the circularly polarized waves in one rotating direction of an upper space can be coupled in the slit 2 and the circularly polarized waves in the other rotating direction can be coupled in the slit 4. When serial resonance block bars 12 and 13 to be serially resonated at the frequency to regularly excite the slits 4 and 2 are provided in the slits 2 and 4, coupling between the both circularly polarized waves can further be reduced.
