Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing ice in water slurry where the dispersion of ice particles is assured to be sufficient and the flow resistance is reduced without corrosion of a transporting pipe system, and to provide a transporting method with a reduced power through a transporting pipe system. SOLUTION: A mixture of heating-media prepared by incorporating water where solbitol as a forming aid for the ice in water slurry is added, and an amphoteric surfactant as a dispersant of the ice in water slurry is cooled to the freezing point or below. Successively, the mixture is released from excess cooling to form the ice in water slurry where ice particles are disperesed. By this procedure, the ice in water slurry having effects of reduced flow resistance, good dispersion of ice particles and no corrosion problem is prepared. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly produce a mixture wherein substantially monodisperse particulates of a dispersion phase are distributed homogeneously enough in a continuous phase. SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 for producing the fine particles comprises two tubes, an outer tube 11 and an inner tube 12 coaxially disposed with each other. The tip 21a of the inner tube 21 is separate from the top 11b of the outer tube 11 by a relatively long distance. While Fluid II flows in the inner tube 21 toward its tip 21a, Fluid I flows as a continuous phase in the outer tube 11 toward its top. Fluid II discharged from the tip 21a of the inner tube 21 can be turned into almost spherical droplets 3 having a desired diameter and surrounded by Fluid I in the outer tube 11, by controlling pumps 14, 24 each according to the command of a controller 31 to make Fluid I and Fluid II flow at a proper flowing velocity in the outer tube 11 and the inner tube 21 respectively.
