PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that accommodates a unit for forming an image on a sheet and a post-processing unit for binding together the sheets on each of which an image is formed in a small space, and easily carries out maintenance work such as solving a sheet jam.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit that forms an image on a sheet; a post-processing unit that binds together the sheets on each of which an image is formed; and an apparatus frame to which the both units are attached. The image forming unit is installed to a lower portion of the apparatus frame, and the post-processing unit is installed to an upper portion of the apparatus frame; the post-processing unit is connected to the apparatus frame so that the image forming unit below can be opened/closed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact image forming device configured to turn over a sheet with an image formed on one face to form an image on the opposite face, which prevents a sheet from jamming in a path for turning over the sheet.SOLUTION: The image forming device includes a processing tray for folding a sheet, and a single sheet stack tray for storing the sheet received from an image forming part without folding it, which are disposed downstream the image forming part. The image forming device includes a straight path for transferring the sheet received from the image forming part in one direction to guide it to the processing tray, and a curved path for turning around the sheet to transfer it in the opposite direction and guiding it to the single stack tray. After the sheet transferred from the image forming part is discharged to the processing tray via the straight path, the sheet is returned to the image forming part again by reversing the conveyance direction.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact image forming device including a paper feed section, an image forming section, a stack tray and a post-processing tray arranged vertically, and facilitating paper jam handling.SOLUTION: In an upper part of a device frame, a paper feed section, an image forming section, a post-processing section and a stack section are arranged in this order. A sheet feeding direction of the paper feed section, a sheet discharge direction of an image-formed sheet of the image forming section, and a folded sheet discharge direction of the processing tray are set so that the sheet with the image formed thereon is discharged in the direction opposite to the sheet feeding direction, and the folded sheet is discharged in the direction opposite to the sheet discharge direction of the sheet with the image formed thereon, respectively.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a post-processing device easily achieving staple changing processing and staple jam processing in a staple unit, in binding and folding a bundle of aligned and stacked sheets.SOLUTION: On a downstream side in a direction where sheets are carried to a processing tray for aligning and stacking the sheets with images formed thereon, the binding position of a staple means is arranged, and on an upstream side therein, the folding position of a folding means is arranged. The processing tray is provided with a folded sheet transfer means moving the bundle of stacked sheets from the binding position to the folding position.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device easily taking out stored sheets from a stacking portion, in a device configuration with a post-processing part and the stacking part arranged above an image forming part.SOLUTION: The post-processing part is arranged above the image forming part, and the stacking part is arranged above the post-processing part. The stacking part includes a folded sheet stacking tray provided above a single sheet stacking tray. A first paper ejection path is arranged between the image forming part and the single sheet stacking tray, and a second paper ejection path is arranged between the processing tray of the post-processing part and the folded sheet stacking tray. With this configuration, the second paper ejection path is positioned above the first paper ejection path, the curvature of the second paper ejection path positioned above when the sheets are carried out through a curved path from the image forming part is made smaller than that of the first paper ejection path, and troubles such as sheet jamming and damage to the sheets are less likely to be caused.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect that a read means has reached a read position by a single sensor, in an image reader capable of reading images by both flat head and sheet through systems. SOLUTION: The image reader includes a movable read means 34 for reading images and a single detection means 32 for detecting a means 41 to be detected provided in the read means 34 for the position control of the read means 34, wherein a read position and a standby position are set in the order from one end side of the moving area of the read means 34, and the read means 34 is controlled so as to stand still at the read position and perform read when reading a moving original. The means 41 to be detected includes a first zone for outputting a first signal from the detection means when the read means 34 is positioned at the standby position, a second zone for outputting the first signal from the detection means 32 when the read means 34 is positioned at the read position, and a third zone positioned between the first zone and the second zone, for outputting a second signal from the detection means 32. Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attain shading correction even when an original is inclined by executing the shading correction of a read image on a part deviated from the width direction end of the original on a prescribed position on the leading side of the original by using a falsely set reference value. CONSTITUTION:The image reader is constituted of a counter 12 for outputting an address signal indicating the position of each picture element read out by an image sensor 11, a memory 15 for storing image data read out on the prescribed position on the leading side of the original as a white reference value, a false write reference value setter 16, and a width end picture element detecting part 17 for detecting a picture element which is not reached to a prescribed level. The shading correction of a read image on a part not reaching the prescribed level on the prescribed position on the leading side of the original or a read image on a part deviated from the width direction end of the original is executed by using the falsely set reference value. Thereby, even when the original is inclined, its shading correction can be executed and an original image can be accurately read out.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch a light source having light quantity in accordance with the sort of an original from a plurality of light sources in the case of reading a translucent original. SOLUTION: The image scanner is equipped with a 1st carriage for guiding light from the original to a line sensor, a 2nd carriage equipped with a plurality of light sources to radiate the light having the different emitted light quantity to the original, and a control means for controlling the lighting of the light source, and the plurality of light sources are constituted by arranging bar type lamps in parallel with the moving direction of the 2nd carriage. Then, the control means performs following control according to a signal for selecting one of the plurality of light sources in accordance with the sort of the original such as a positive film or a negative film. (a) The lamp of the selected light source is lit. (b) The 1st carriage is moved from a standby position to a matching position. (c) The 2nd carriage is moved from the standby position by a previously set moving amount in accordance with the selected lamp and positioned at the matching position.
