    Abstract: The audio transducer comprises at least one air displacement component, such as a diaphragm and a housing configured to retain the at least one air displacement component. The audio transducer comprises self-healing material so that at least part of the air displacement component or housing comprise the self-healing material. The self-healing material can enable repair of the audio transducer when the audio transducer is deformed and/or if there are any other defects within the audio transducer. Upon detection of such deformation and/or defects a trigger signal is generated to initiate the self-healing process. The self-healing process may be initiated by the application of heat.

    Abstract: Apparatus, methods and computer programs for controlling noise reduction in audio signals comprising audio captured by a plurality of microphones. The apparatus comprises means for obtaining one or more audio signals and dividing the obtained one or more audio signals into a plurality of intervals 405. Parameters relating to one or more noise characteristics for different intervals are determined and noise reduction is applied to the different intervals based on these parameters. Preferably the intervals comprise time-frequency intervals 403. Preferably the noise characteristics comprise noise levels. Preferably the parameters are determined independently for the different intervals and are determined based on whether they are within a threshold range. Examples of such parameters include, the noise level in an interval, noise levels in intervals preceding the current interval, the method of noise reduction previously used, the duration of the noise reduction, and the orientation of the microphones used for capture. In a further aspect, there is an apparatus for determining whether to provide mono audio output or spatial audio output based on based on noise parameters within different intervals of one or more audio signals.

    Abstract: An apparatus 1 comprising: an audio transducer 3; a two-dimensional sensing portion 5; and electronic circuitry 3. In operation the sensing portion detects one or more operating conditions of the loudspeaker and provides an output signal to the electronic circuitry which uses said signal to control the audio signal. The two dimensional material comprises at least one of: graphene; graphene oxide; reduced graphene oxide; functionalized graphene; molybdenum disulphide; tungsten disulphide; or boron nitride. The sensing portion may be inside the loudspeaker and provide an indication of a change in conductivity of the two-dimensional material in response to operating conditions of the audio transducer such as temperature, humidity, light or analytes in one or more parts of the loudspeaker. The 2D sensing material (9, Fig. 5) may comprise a conductive material coupled to a voice coil; diaphragm (21, Fig. 5); magnet (31, Fig. 5); or bottom plate of the loudspeaker. The sensing portion may also provide a heat sink function. Control of the audio signal may comprise adjusting the driving voltage.

    Abstract: Rendering a sound source via two or more loudspeakers, where the sound source is intended to be perceived by a listener as being located in a position other than that of the loudspeakers. This is followed by detecting an audio capture device of the listener (e.g. hearing aids) operating in a directivity mode for steering a sound capture beam towards the position. This is followed by modifying rendering so that the sound source is output from only one of the loudspeakers so that the audio capture device will then be steered towards the selected loudspeakers. Preferably the sound source is determined to be of interest to the user. In an embodiment the sound comprises speech. A main embodiment relates to mitigating issues faced by hearing aid users when experiencing immersive audio.

    Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program for rendering a spatial audio output signal via headphones 23, comprising; using a first microphone 25a and a second microphone 25b to detect ambient noise where the microphones are located at first and second positions within a headset. The signals from the microphones are compared, for example by correlating the signals to calculate time of arrival differences and plotting a histogram, to determine the locations of the microphones which are indicative of the users head size. The determined locations are then used to enable a spatial audio output signal to be rendered by the headset, for example by selecting and/or customizing filters such as a pair of Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTF). More than two microphones, distributed over the headset, may be utilised in this calibration method which may start automatically.
