Abstract:
A method of causing a service to be provided from a server 3 using a first user device 5 and an accessory device 15 wherein the accessory device is connected to the first user device via a wireless connection 17, which may be short-range radio. When status information provided by the first user device determines that a trigger event has occurred, a second user device 13 is enabled to establish a wireless connection to the accessory device 15 wherein the second user device is registered to the same user account as the first user device. Possible triggers can be wireless signal deterioration or detection that a user has moved to an alternate device. The accessory may be a headset, loudspeaker, head mounted display, earphone, television, stereo, watch, mouse or keyboard, among other things.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprises: processing circuitry; and memory circuitry including computer program code; the memory circuitry and the computer program code configured to, with the processing circuitry, cause the apparatus at least to perform: obtaining 41 an indication of an angular position of a user device relative to an output device; and enabling an output to be provided 43 by the output device wherein the output is directed towards the detected angular direction of the user device. The output might be an information display, or an acoustic signal provided by a loudspeaker system, and might provide advertising information. Output relevant to the user device may be determined, facilitating personalised output. A plurality of different outputs may be provided towards the detected angular directions of a plurality of user devices. The relative position of the user device may be determined using signals transmitted by a positioning beacon (Figures 3 and 5), and it may also be determined whether the user is facing the output device.
Abstract:
A technique for providing service data is provided, operating in a user apparatus, a first wireless communication portion for short-range wireless communication and a second wireless communication portion for wireless communication, providing, in response to receiving a list of allowable device identifiers from a remote server apparatus via the second wireless communication portion, said list of allowable device identifiers to the first wireless communication portion, and issuing, in response to the first wireless control portion receiving an advertising message comprising a device identifier included in said list of allowable device identifiers, an advertising report including at least one of the received device identifier and a service identifier associated with the received device identifier. The first wireless communication portion may be the Bluetooth Low Energy, BLE, protocol while the second may be a wireless local area network, WLAN, protocol or a cellular wireless communication protocol. The remote server apparatus comprises means for providing a list of allowable device identifiers to the user apparatus in response to an indication regarding the user apparatus having entered an area of interest, wherein the list comprises mapping between a predetermined set of device identifiers and corresponding possible user preferences associated with a user apparatus.
Abstract:
In a method for local discovery a request to make a search for at least one local service is received from at least one device. A search is performed by means of at least one service directory to discover the at least one local service. As a result of the search, information on such local services in proximity of the device is provided to the device.
Abstract:
Output of audio or visual content via local mobile user devices (4a, 4b. 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f), such as a mobile phone and/or a headset, or via output devices (8a, 8b. 8c, 8d, 8e, 8f 8g, 8h), such as a speaker and/or a display, is controlled by a controller (7). The output devices (Sa, 8b. Sc, 8d, 8e, 8f 8g. 8h) are located at different locations within an environment for accommodating users (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d), such as the interior of a car. The controller (7) determines information on a location within the environment of each of the mobile user devices (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f) based on wireless signals received from the user devices (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f), such as Bluetooth low energy signals, and controls the output of the content based on this.
Abstract:
In a non-limiting and example embodiment, a method is provided for controlling shared wireless network access parameters, including: receiving, by an apparatus, credentials for accessing to a wireless network, storing, by the apparatus, the credentials to a protected storage, and accessing the wireless network on the basis of the stored credentials, wherein the stored credentials are accessible by only predetermined trusted applications.
