Abstract:
The use of a picture delimiter that is contained in a NAL unit type value that is reserved in the current AVC or SVC specification. The present invention provides the scalability information for the H.264/AVC base layer in such a manner that bitstreams remain decodable with H.264/AVC decoders. In addition, the picture delimiter of the present invention may contain many other syntax elements that can help in easier processing of bitstreams compared to the plain H.264/AVC bitstream syntax.
Abstract:
A method of encoding a plurality of views of a scene into a multi-view video bitstream comprises determining that a first picture of a first view is used as a reference picture for a second picture of another view; based on the determining that the first picture of the first view is used as a reference picture for the second picture of another view, providing, in the bitstream, a first signaling element indicating that the first picture is treated as a longterm reference picture for the second picture; and using the first picture as a long-term reference picture for the second picture in the encoding.
Abstract:
An indirect aggregator NAL unit for the SVC file format and RTP payload format for video coding. The indirect aggregator NAL unit of the present invention enables easy identification of scalability dependencies within a bit stream, thereby enabling fast and efficient stream manipulation. Furthermore, the indirect aggregator NAL unit of the present invention ensures that a base layer of the streams can still be processed with a H.264/AVC decoder, AVC file format parser, and H.264/AVC RTP payload parser.
Abstract:
A method of encoding scalable video data having multiple layers where each layer in the multiple layers is associated with at least one other layer includes identifying one or more layers using a first identifier where the first identifier indicates decoding dependency, and identifying reference pictures within the identified one or more layers using a second identifier. The coding of the second identifier for pictures in a first layer is independent of pictures in a second enhancement layer. As such, for all pictures with a certain value of DependencyID, the syntax element frame_num is coded independently of other pictures with different values of DependencyID. Within all pictures with a pre-determined value of DependencyID, a default frame_num coding method is used.
Abstract:
A signaling method and device for use in stream switching in which GDR random access points are used. In order to indicate the GDR switching points in the bitstreams, a Sync Sample Information Box, which is contained in a Sync Sample Box, is used to provide information of such GDR switching points. The information also includes which slice group is the isolated region and which slice group is the leftover region, if slice groups are applied in encoding. The signaling method can be used in video data transmission using Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP), and a Session Description Protocol (SDP) can be used to convey information indicative of the characteristics of the bitstreams.
Abstract:
Abstract There is provided a method of encoding a plurality of views of a scene. The method includes constructing an initial reference picture list based at least in part on intra-view reference pictures and inter-view reference pictures. The method then provides a first signaling element for reordering of inter-view reference pictures relative to the initial reference picture list, the first signaling element being derived based at least in part on a view identifier value.
Abstract:
Methods and devices for video encoding and decoding, where video data is obtained, followed by generating a base layer based thereon, the base layer comprising at least one picture, generating at least one enhancement layer based on the obtained video data, the enhancement layer comprising at least one picture, generating a dependency identifier for each of the base and enhancement layers, each dependency identifier being associated with a reference number; determining a respective sequence parameter set for each of the base layer and the enhancement layer having different dependency identifier values, wherein for a number of base and enhancement layers having sequence parameter set parameters substantially the same, using one sequence parameter set; and encoding the base layer and the at least one enhancement layer by using determined sequence parameter sets.
Abstract:
A system and method for encoding a first picture sequence and a second picture sequence into coded pictures, with the first picture sequence and the second picture sequence being different, and with at least one coded picture of the second picture sequence being predicted from at least one picture in the first picture sequence. According to various embodiments of the present invention, signal element is encoded into a coded picture of the second picture sequence. The signal element indicates whether a picture in the first picture sequence is used for prediction of the coded picture of the second picture sequence.
