Abstract: A communications system (101) includes a dual mode mobile station (109) and a home base station (103). Dual mode mobile station (109) is operable selectively in CDMA and analog modes. Home base station (103) includes circuitry for establishing wireless communications with mobile station (109) in the analog mode and circuitry for establishing communications with a wireline communications system (104), thus allowing an exchange of information between mobile station (109) and wireline system (104) in the analog mode.
