Abstract: A holographic article and method for forming permits the party producing the final document to print the holographic image directly on the final document thereby permitting such party to retain and maintain control of its own embossing shim on which the hologram has been formed and which is utilized for embossing the holographic image on the document. A film upon which a holographic image can be directly stamped upon the final document includes a layer of metal having a thickness in the range of 20 millimicrons to 100 millimicrons, a lacquer coating having a thickness in the range of 0.5 microns to 3 microns and a heat activatible adhesive. The metal layer lacquer coating and heat activatible adhesive are caused to be adhered to the substrate forming the final document during a stamping operation which releases said metal layer, lacquer coating and heat activatible adhesive from a plastic carrier film to which had initially been applied.

Abstract: Una hoja compuesta holográfica y un método para formarla permite a la persona responsable de producir el documento final al imprimir la imagen holográfica directamente en el documento final permitiendo con esto que dicha persona retenga y mantenga el control de su propio troquel holográfico de estampado en realce y de la laminita en donde se ha formado el holograma y que se utiliza para estampar en realce la imagen holográfica en el documento. Una película en donde la imagen puede estamparse directamente sobre el documento final incluye un revestimiento de liberacion, una capa de metal con un grosor en el rango de 20 milimicras a 100 milimicras, un revestimiento de laca con un grosor en el rango de 0.5 micras a 3 micras, un adhesivo activable por calor y una capa de enlace, para incrementar la adhesion entre el revestimiento de laca y el revestimiento adhesivo. La capa de liberacion, la capa de metal, el revestimiento de laca, la capa de enlace y el adhesivo activable por calor se adhieren al substrato conformando el documento final durante una operacion de estampado que libera dicha capa de liberacion, dicha capa de metal, dicho revestimiento de laca, dicha capa de enlace y dicho adhesivo activable por calor de una película de plástico portadora a la que se le habían aplicado inicialmente.

Abstract: A holographic composite sheet (10) and method for forming permits the party producing the final document (20) to print the holographic image directly on the final document (20) thereby permitting such party to retain and maintain control of its own holographic embossing die (31) and shim (33) on which the hologram has been formed and which is utilized for embossing the holographic image on the document (20). A film upon which a holographic image can be directly stamped upon the final document (20) includes a release layer (B), a layer of metal (C) having a thickness in the range of 20 millimicrons to 100 millimicrons, a lacquer coating (D) having a thickness in the range of 0.5 microns to 3 microns, a heat-activatable adhesive (F) and a tie layer (E), to increase the adhesion between the lacquer coating (D) and the adhesive coating (F). The release layer (B), metal layer (C), lacquer coating (D), tie layer (E) and heat-activatable adhesive (F) are caused to be adhered to the substrate forming the final document (20) during a stamping operation which release said release layer (B), metal layer (C), lacquer coating (D), tie layer (E) and heat-activatable adhesive (F) from a plastic carrier film (A) to which it had been initially applied.
