Abstract:
PURPOSE: To execute a drawing operation of a billet in an early time and to prevent the growth of alumina in an immersion casting port consisting of graphite in the stage of starting charging the molten metal into a continuous casting metallic mold by supplying heat from the outside to prevent the quick cooling around the casting port. CONSTITUTION: An immersion casting port 4 which can maintain a min. required space from the inside wall surface of a continuous casting metallic mold 6 for forming a billet 1 like a thin plate is inserted into the mold 6. The port 4 is preheated to the temp. of a molten metal and said temp. is maintained during the casting operation. The molten metal is automatically charged into the casting space 6a of the metal 6 and when the level 10 of the molten metal arrives at the height in the aperture 4a for charging, the drawing of the billet 1 is automatically started. A stopper 5 opens further at the same instant, then the molten metal arrives at a level 9, and the billet 1 is continuously drawn. The level 9 is adjusted to a target height.
