    Abstract: This document discloses a solution for testing an implementation of a network service provided in a network. According to an aspect, a method comprises: acquiring, by a testing system operating in an isolated staging environment, a plurality of candidate network functions of a network service, wherein the network service is defined by network functions required by the network service and links between the network functions, wherein the plurality of candidate network functions includes at least one candidate network function for each network function required by the network service and includes a plurality of candidate network functions for at least one network function required by the network service; testing, by the testing system, links between the candidate network functions and determining a link performance metric for each tested link; building, by the testing system, a candidate network service for end-to-end performance estimation from candidate network functions having interfaces for which the link performance metrics indicate performance above a determined threshold; estimating, by the testing system, an end-to-end performance metric for the candidate network service on the basis of the link performance metrics of the candidate network service; and outputting, by the testing system, the candidate network service to a production environment on the basis of the estimated end-to-end performance metric.

    Abstract: Method comprising:
    receiving an instruction to reduce a number of resources in a fully-used role to an intended reduced number of resources in the fully-used role;
    selecting one or more of the resources in the fully-used role, wherein the one or more resources are selected such that the number of resources in the fully-used role becomes the intended reduced number;
    transitioning a role of the selected resources from the fully-used role to the transitional role,
    informing a scheduling device that the role of the resources transitions to the transitional role;
    receiving an indication that a first resource of the resources in the transitional role does not carry any traffic;
    informing a management device of the resources and the scheduling device that the role of the first resource transitions to the on-the-shelf role in response to receiving the indication; wherein
    for each of the resources, the respective resource being in the on-the-shelf role indicates that the respective resource does not carry any traffic;
    the scheduling device is responsible for scheduling traffic on the resources;
    the management device is responsible for a life cycle of the resources.
