    Abstract: To reduce the effect of a steering operation on feeling. A rack bush comprises: a bush body that is accommodated in a cylindrical housing, supports a load exerted on a rack bar while allowing the rack bar to move in the direction of an axial center O, and can be extended and retracted in a radial direction; and an elastic ring mounted on the bush body. The bush body has a mounting groove for mounting the elastic ring, the mounting groove being formed peripherally in an outer peripheral surface, and the mounting groove having a large-diameter part where the circumferential radius of a groove bottom is a first radius r1, and a small-diameter part where said radius is a second radius r2 that is less than the first radius r1. This configuration allows the formation of an elastic ring protruding part, in which the elastic ring protrudes greatly from the outer peripheral surface of the bush body, and an elastic ring embedded part, in which the elastic ring is embedded in the outer peripheral surface of the bush body.

    Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to reduce the impact of production variability in a radius of curvature of a rear surface of a rack bar, for example, while enlarging a region of contact with the rack bar. A concave surface (330) is used as a rack guide seat (32) sliding surface (33). In a YZ cross section perpendicular to an axial direction of a rack bar, the concave surface (330) includes: a pair of first arcuate surfaces (331A, 331B) which are disposed on a peripheral edge side (320) of the sliding surface (33), from two positions of contact TA, TB with a rack bar rear surface (22), the positions of contact TA, TB having line symmetry with respect to a straight Line O3 joining a center O of a rack bar (20) with a bottom portion center C of the sliding surface (33), and which have line symmetry with respect to the straight Line O3; and a pair of second arcuate surfaces (332A, 332B) which are disposed on a bottom portion side (321) of the sliding surface (33), from the positions of contact TA, TB, and which have line symmetry with respect to the straight Line O3. With regard to gaps to the rack bar rear surface (22) in positions separated by the same distance from the positions of contact TA, TB, the gaps from the first arcuate surfaces (331A, 331B) are greater than the gaps from the second arcuate surfaces (332A, 332b).

    Abstract: A clearance is created between an inner circumference of a bushing main body (2) which surrounds a rack (5) across a row of rack gear teeth (50) and an outer circumference of the rack (5), and two supporting surfaces (21A, 21B) which face each other with a bushing main body axis O therebetween and a supporting surface (21C) which faces a back surface of the rack (5), each extending along an x-axis direction, are formed on the inner circumference of the bushing main body (2). The rack (5) in a neutral state is supported by the two supporting surfaces (21A, 21B) so as to be displaceable along a z-axis direction, and the rack (5) in operation is stably supported by the three supporting surfaces (21A-21C) at three places. A groove bottom position of an annular elastic member attachment groove (24), which is formed on an outer circumference of the bushing main body (2), is offset toward the support surface (21B) only in an area on a support surface (21B) side from the bushing main body axis O, and therefore an elastic ring (3) attached to the elastic member attachment groove (24), protrudes above an outer circumferential surface of the bushing main body (2), but only in the area on the support surface (21B) side from the bushing main body axis O.
