Abstract: The invention provides an improved apparatus for the irregular local treatment of yarn, for example for non-continuous dyeing of textile yarn. The yarn is moved through one or more treatment zones at constant or varying velocity and is sprayed with a treatment fluid from a moving nozzle. According to the invention at least one of the drive mechanisms for the yarn or nozzle is of variable speed.
