Method and apparatus for dissipating high frequency electromagnetic energy inside a material. The apparatus comprises a conductive jacket defining a resonant chamber, a coil inside said chamber connected to a coaxial cable supplied by a high frequency generator, the frequency of which is equal to the resonant frequency of the chamber. The impedance of the resonator and its contents is matched to that of the coaxial cable. Automatic means may be provided for altering the resonator impedance to compensate for changes in load impedance.

Dispositif permettant de réaliser une élévation de température superficielle d'un corps tel que la peau. Le dispositif comporte un résonateur constitué par une enveloppe conductrice de l'électricité fermée ou sensiblement fermée au sens électromagnétique du terme, comprenant à son intérieur un enroulement émettant une énergie électromagnétique à haute fréquence. Il est prévu un élément de couplage destiné à adapter au résonateur l'énergie à haute fréquence et un circuit d'application qui amène l'énergie produite à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe vers un organe d'application situé à l'extérieur de l'enveloppe. Le circuit d'application est constitué par un enroulement soumis à l'action du champ électromagnétique à haute fréquence, qui est placé à l'intérieur du résonateur, cet enroulement étant relié à un organe d'application constitué par une capacité à électrodes interdigitées.

A method for measuring the relative humidity of a gaseous medium measures the difference in resonant frequencies in two resonant cavities (3a, 3b) placed in a reference medium and connected in parallel to the same hyperfrequency energy source (1). A gaseous medium more humid than the reference medium is introduced into one of the cavities and the difference in resonant frequencies is measured again. The difference is proportional to the relative humidity of the gaseous medium. The reference medium may be the ambient air or a vacuum, and used for analysis of e.g. cosmetics. The energy generator may be a Klystron. An electronic spectrometer connected to detectors (6a, 6b) is each cavity measures the resonant frequencies.
