Abstract:
IN WHICH R is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl radical having three to eight carbon atoms, C6H5, (C6H5-CH2), and C6H11, and n is a number between one and four inclusive. The invention also includes a method of making the composition.
A composition for dyeing keratinic fibers and particularly human hair which comprises, in aqueous solution, at least one direct dye having a poor affinity for the fiber at room temperature and an organic solvent which is inert to both the dye and the fiber, and corresponds to the formula
Abstract:
A hair setting lotion composition comprises in combination an aqueous solution of a lower alkanol, a cosmetic film-forming resin and a reducing agent selected from the group consisting of butyl hydroxy anisole, dodecyl gallate, propyl gallate and octyl gallate. The reducing agent is generally present in amounts of about 0.02-2% by weight of the composition.
Abstract:
A stable composition for softening, tinting, lightening and setting hair comprising a solution in a solvent selected from water and an aqueous solution of a lower alkanol of an effective amount of hydrogen peroxide to lighten the hair, an effective amount of at least one water soluble 1 : 2 chromium complex of a mono azo dye to tint the hair and an effective amount of a filmforming polymer to set the hair, said composition having a pH between 1.5 and 4.5.
Abstract:
Cosmetic composition for use in treating damaged hair. The composition comprises, as the active component a methylol compound of the formula:
IN A SUITABLE COSMETIC CARRIER, IN WHICH FORMULA: X represents either an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom or an NH group; R and R'' are identical or different and represent either a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical; and R1 and R2 represent either a methyl hydroxy group or a methyl alkoxy group, e.g. methyl alkoxy wherein the alkoxy contains up to five carbon atoms or more. Typically the methylol compound is N,N''-dihydroxymethyl glyoxalurea or N,N''-dihydroxymethyl glyoxalthiourea. The composition is applied at an acid pH and is advantageously made up in solid form for mixing with water or water-and-alcohol solutions when used. The compositions are used by impregnating the hair with a mixture thereof and water or water-and-alcohol solution followed by drying with heat.
Abstract:
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR SIMULTANEOUSLY DYEING HAIR AND LIGHTENING ITS COLOR AND TO SPECIFIC COMPOSITIONS FOR USE IN CARRYING OUT THAT PROCESS. THESE COMPOSITIONS CONTAIN IN COMBINATION A WATER-SOLUBLE DYE WHICH IS EITHER AN ANTHRAQUINONE DYE OR A NITRATED DERIVATIVE OF BENZENE, TOGETHER WITH AN AZO DYE OR AN ANTHRAQUINONE DYE WHICH ARE INSOLUBLE IN WATER, AND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE.

1279144 Neutralising composition L'OREAL 25 July 1969 [25 July 1968 9 July 1969] 37617/69 Heading DIP The active ingredient in a neutraliser for hair waving compositions comprises in an amount of from 0.5 to 12% by wt a compound of the general formula: in which R represents H or a 1-6C alkyl radical, Y represents a -#C-, -#C-, -#CO S NH or -SO 2 - radical or Y represents a -#CN radical which together with R" forms a ring compound which may contain other -#N-CH 2 OR groups, R' represents H, alkyl, R' hydroxymethyl or alkoxymethyl, and R" represents (i) a hydrogen atom (ii) an alkyl or alkoxy radical which may contain an amido or carbamate group, which may be substituted with a methylol radical (iii) an amino group which may be substituted with an alkyl, cyano, or -CH 2 OR radical (iv) or an aryl or alkylaryl radical; or R' and R" may form a ring which may contain other hetero-atoms and/or other -Y-#N-CH 2 OR groups or dimethylol #R' -methylene-bis-(ethylcarbamate). Suitable ingredients of this formula are dimethylolethyleneurea, dimethylolethylenethiourea, trimethylolmelamine, dimethylolurea, N, N'-dimethylol-(2-methyl-2-propyl) propylenebis-carbamate, dimethylol-succinamide, dimethyloladipamide, dimethylol (ethylcarbamate), monomethylolurea, monomethylolthiourea, monomethyloldimethylhydantoin, monomethylolethyleneurea, monomethylolethylenethiourea, monomethyloldicyandiamide, monomethylolguanidine, monomethylol (ethylcarbamate), monomethyloldiethylurea, and N, N'-dihydroxyethyldihydroxyethyleneurea. The active ingredient may be included in a composition having a pH of from 1.5 to 6 or in the case of dimethylolthiourea a pH of from 8.5 to 10. The composition may also include an oxidising agent e.g. hydrogen peroxide, urea, peroxide, sodium perborate, ammonium persulphate, sodium peroxycarbonate, sodium bromate or potassium chlorate wherein the molar ratio of oxidising agent to active ingredient is from 0.1:1 to 10:1. The composition may also contain conventional neutraliser additives such as cationic compounds, resins e.g. vinyl acetate/ vinyl pyrrolidone copolymer or silicone oil, dyestuffs, perfumes, surface active agents, penetrating agents or peptising agents. The composition may take the form of a cream, gel or aerosol or may be in the form of an aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic solution, it may also be in the form of a two-component pack - the first component comprising an active ingredient of the above general formula and the second comprising an oxidising agent. Hair may be treated by first reducing it, then winding it on rollers, and after impregnation with the composition of the invention drying it before rinsing the composition off. Hair may be impregnated before constraining on rollers.
