Abstract:
A passenger conveyor (20) includes a handrail drive (40) for propelling a handrail (30). A suspension (100) associated with the drive (40) supports a weight of a corresponding portion of the handrail (30) in the vicinity of the drive device (40). In a disclosed example, the suspension (100) includes at least one cantilevered member (104, 120) for engaging a lip portion (64) of an inner surface on the handrail (30). The suspension (100) maintains a corresponding portion of the handrail (30) in close proximity to a drive member (42) such as a toothed belt to ensure proper engagement between the drive member (42) and the handrail (30).
Abstract:
In an elevator sheave for a flat belt, the optimum crown height is within a range of approximately 0.033 to about 0.003 times the width of the elevator rope. The optimum radius is in the range of about 16.67 to about 50.00 times the width of the elevator rope. Both the crown height (h) and the crown radius (rc) may be expressed as a function of belt width (wb). The groove width (wg) is in the range of approximately 1.5 to 2.25 times the width of the belt (wb). A circumferential surface roughness of about 1.0 to 3.0 is applied. A hard, thin surface coating can be applied to enhance durability while maintaining traction.
Abstract:
An elevator sheave (20) includes a belt guiding surface (26) having a surface profile along at least a portion of the belt guiding surface. The surface profile preferably is defined by an n th order polynomial equation where n is a number greater than 2. In one example, the reference point (40) is a central point along the width of the belt guiding surface (26). In one example, a central portion (42) of the surface profile preferably is aligned to be generally parallel with the central axis (34) of the sheave body. Some examples have curvilinear side portions (44, 46) between the central portion (42) and the edges (28, 30) of the sheave. Other examples also include second side portions (48, 50) that have linear profiles.
Abstract:
A load bearing assembly (20) includes a plurality of tension members (22). A joint in the load bearing assembly (20) has a staggered pattern of discontinuities (30) in the tension members (22). A stress relieving feature is associated with at least outermost tension members (22A, 22L) in the vicinity of the discontinuities. One example includes supplemental tension members (32, 50) as the stress relieving feature. Another example includes selected spacings (32', 40, 42) between ends of at least some of the tension members. One example includes different sized tension members as the stress relieving feature. Another example includes different lateral spacings between selected tension members.
Abstract:
An elevator load bearing member assembly includes at least one roughened surface (46) on a polyurethane jacket (44). In one example, mechanical roughening is used to roughen the surface (46) after the jacket has been extruded onto tension members (42). In another example, the temperatures used for molding a jacket (44) are controlled to induce melt fracture and roughen the surface (46) during the forming process. Other examples include chemically roughening the jacket surface and using localized heating to roughen the surface. The roughened jacket surface improves friction characteristics of a load bearing member assembly.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with the canceling of elevator service and the change request of destination floor by utilizing voice recognition which decodes the request spoken by a user and responding information to the user or requesting information from the user, while using voice synthesis. SOLUTION: An elevator system 82 for transmitting information with a remote voice control device has a transmission part, platform symbol part provided for each platform, transmission part, and symbol part provided for each elevator car. In a state changeable into stop or sleep mode, only when a symbol prompt request is received from an antenna 79 and transmission part 78, does a microprocessor 76 respond to it and initializes a voice-recognizing part 62 and voice-synthesizing part 69 into available state. The voice-recognizing mechanism 62 can be speedily programmed by adjusting the parameters of discontinuous voice recognition at three different levels of pronunciation independence, dependence and peculiarity.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved joint structure of a load supporting assembly. SOLUTION: The load supporting assembly includes a plurality of tension members. Joints of the load supporting assembly have discontinuous points 30 of a zigzag pattern of the tension members. A stress relaxing function is associated with at least the outermost tension members 22A, 22L near the discontinuous points. In an example, an auxiliary tension member 32 is included as the stress relaxing function. In another example, a selected gap is included between at least some ends of the tension members. In one example, tension members different in size are included as a stress relaxing function. In another example, gaps having different lateral directions are included between selected tension members. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
