    Abstract: An elevator belt includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt. Each tension member includes a core member formed from a composite material, and a plurality of second fibers to enhance temperature resistance of the tension member. A jacket material encapsulates the tension members. An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car located in the hoistway and movable therein and a belt operably connected to the elevator car to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway. The belt includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt. Each tension member includes a core member formed from a composite material, and plurality of second fibers to enhance temperature resistance of the tension member. A jacket material at least partially encapsulates the tension members.

    Abstract: A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car of an elevator system includes a plurality of tension members spaced from each other along a width of the belt and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt. A jacket at least partially envelopes the plurality of tension members and forms at least one outer belt surface along a width of the belt. A groove is located in the at least one outer belt surface extending longitudinally along the length of the belt.

    Abstract: A system for dynamic assignment of buttons on destination entry terminals (DETs) is provided. The system performs operations that include identifying a message for display on a touchscreen display of a destination entry system of an elevator. The message includes a selection button for display on the touchscreen display. The at least one selection button is displayed at a first location on the touchscreen display. The at least one selection button is displayed at a different location on the touchscreen display once a rearrangement criterion is satisfied.

    Abstract: An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car movable along the hoistway, and one or more belts operably connected to the elevator car to propel the elevator car along the hoistway. A belt of the one or more belts includes one or more tension elements extending along a belt length, and a jacket at least partially encapsulating the one or more tension elements. The jacket includes a jacket base formed from a first material and one or more insert layers embedded in the jacket base material. The one or more insert layers have a corrugated shape along the belt length, and are formed from a second material different from the first material.

    Abstract: An exemplary elevator guiderail includes a metal sheet bent into a configuration that establishes at least one mounting portion configured to facilitate mounting the guiderail within an elevator hoistway. At least one guiding portion is configured to guide movement of an elevator car along the guiderail. The metal sheet includes an exterior surface treated to resist corrosion. A cover over at least some of the guiding surface has an exterior that is different than the exterior surface of the metal sheet. The cover is configured to establish a coefficient of friction to facilitate brake engagement with the cover for resisting movement of an elevator car along the guiderail.

A plurality of fibers are interlaced with the plurality of tension elements to form a composite belt structure. A belt coating is applied to the composite belt structure to at least partially encapsulate the composite belt structure.
