Abstract:
A handrail drive for a passenger conveyor includes a drive belt that does not emcompass either the main drive shaft or the handrail drive shaft. In a particular embodiment, the drive belt includes a plurality of outwardly extending teeth and is formed from a reinforced elastomeric material. The teeth are engaged with complementary toothed extensions on the main and handrail drive shafts. Two pairs of deflection rollers maintain contact between the drive belt and drive shafts and an adjustable spring maintains tension in the drive belt.
Abstract:
An illuminated information display is provided for a passenger conveying device comprising a light source, a housing, and a display panel for mounting on the outer decking of passenger conveying device balustrade. According to an aspect of the present invention, a balustrade for a passenger conveying device is provided comprising an illuminated information display. According to another aspect of the present invention, a balustrade outer decking is provided having a light source incorporated therein.
Abstract:
A newel guide for supporting a passenger conveyor handrail traveling over a newel includes an integral one piece body and a plurality of rollers. The one piece body may be formed by an extrusion process and formed into the desired shape. In a particular embodiment, the one piece body incorporates an attachment portion, a deflector portion and a portion to retain the rollers. A transition piece is used between the newel guide and the handrail guide to smoothly transition between the guides. The transition piece has a profile to match the newel guide on one end and a profile to match the handrail guide on the opposite end.
Abstract:
A passenger conveyor handrail (30) has a gripping surface (32, 42, 52, 62, 72, 82) with a generally circular cross-section. Disclosed examples include a toothed driven surface (34, 44, 54, 64, 74, 84) that is adapted to be engaged by a toothed driving member (28) for propelling the handrail in a desired direction. Disclosed examples include having the generally circular cross-section extend along an entire length of the handrail (30) corresponding to the closed loop path followed by the handrail during operation of a corresponding passenger conveyor.
