    Abstract: A turbocharger includes a turbine housing, a compressor housing, and a bearing housing. Each of the housings includes a passage for cooling inside. The turbocharger further includes a switching valve and a controller that switches a valve position of the switching valve. The switching valve is adapted to switch the circulation state of coolant in each passage such that the coolant is supplied from the passage of the turbine housing to the passage of the bearing housing or such that the coolant is supplied from another passage to the passage of the bearing housing. The controller switches the valve position of the switching valve such that the coolant is supplied from the passage of the turbine housing to the passage of the bearing housing until a predetermined amount of time passes after starting of the engine.

    Abstract: A bearing structure for a turbocharger includes a center housing, which is arranged between a turbine wheel and a compressor wheel and has an insertion hole, a rotary shaft, which is inserted through the insertion hole and couples the turbine wheel to the compressor wheel, a pair of bearing members, which is press-fitted into the gap between the rotary shaft and the center housing and rotationally supports the rotary shaft, and a restriction member, which is held by the rotary shaft at a position between the bearing members and restricts the movement of the rotary shaft in the thrust direction by engaging with the bearing members. The bearing members have engagement surfaces engaging with the restriction member. An oil supply opening is formed in each of the engagement surfaces.

    Abstract: In a VCSEL, a first multilayer film reflector, an active layer having a light emitting central region, a second multilayer film reflector, and a transverse mode adjustment layer are layered in this order. The first multilayer film reflector has a quadrangle current injection region with an intersection of diagonal lines corresponding to the light emitting central region. The second multilayer film reflector has a light emitting window provided in a region corresponding to one diagonal line of the current injection region and a pair of grooves provided with the light emitting window in between.
