    Abstract: A plasma display panel can reduce a discharge delay in address discharge, thereby performing high-speed addressing in a stable manner. A front substrate (1) and a back substrate (2) are disposed to face each other, and a discharge space (3) is formed and partitioned by barrier ribs (10) so as to form priming discharge cells (17) and main discharge cells (11). A clearance (19) is provided between the barrier ribs (10) of the priming discharge cells (17) and the front substrate (1), and priming particles generated in the priming discharge cells (17) are supplied to the main discharge cells (11) through the clearance (19), whereby a PDP performing high-speed addressing is obtained.

    SOLUTION: The plasma display panel has a front face plate provided with a plurality of display electrodes in a row direction with an electric discharge gap provided in between; a rear face plate arranged to face the front face plate with an electric discharge space provided in between; and barrier ribs 13 partitioning the electric discharge space for every electric discharge cell. The barrier ribs 13 are composed of vertical barrier ribs 13a formed in parallel with data electrodes 12, and horizontal barrier ribs 13b formed to exist between the display electrodes of the adjacent electric discharge cells in a direction to intersect the vertical barrier ribs 13a. The horizontal barrier ribs 13b are formed to be lower in height than the vertical barrier ribs 13a. The display electrodes are constituted to be low in luminosity when viewed from a screen on the substrate side, and a shading member does not exist between the display electrodes of the adjacent electric discharge cells.
