PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source for lighting capable of inhibiting warpage of a straight tube without complicating the assembly and increasing the costs.SOLUTION: A light source for lighting includes: a long housing 20; a long first base 50 which is stored in the housing 20 and is formed by deforming a metal plate; a long substrate 11 disposed on the first base 50; and an LED 12 disposed on the substrate 11. The first substrate 50 has a fixed part 54 fixed to an inner surface of the housing 20 by an adhesive. The fixed part 54 is formed by deforming a part of the first base 50 so as to protrude toward the inner surface of the housing 20.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality backlight unit in which thermal deformation of a front frame hardly occurs, and to provide a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: The backlight unit 3 has a light guide plate 30 and linear light sources 70 arranged in opposition on the side face of the light guide plate 30 housed in a case 10 with one face open, and a front frame 100 is installed covering the periphery part of the light guide plate 30 on the opening part 12 of the case 10. The front frame 100 is constructed of a plurality of plates 102-105, and at least one of the plates 102-105 is arranged with clearances 106-109 between the other plates so that its expansion may not be suppressed by other plates when it expands by heat generated from the linear light sources 70.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device of which brightness unevenness is hard to occur, improvement of incident efficiency is prospected, and reduction of workability in manufacturing is less. SOLUTION: This light source device 100 includes: a light-emitting module 110 having a long substrate 111 and a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements 112 mounted on the upper face 111a of the substrate 111; a heat sink 120 arranged on the lower face 111c side of the substrate 111 along the longitudinal direction of the substrate 111; and a reflector 130 which is mounted on both side faces of the heat sink 120 in a state that both end portions of the short-length direction of the substrate 111 is embraced and that is pressed to the heat sink 120 and in which light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting element 112 by a pair of opposing reflection faces 131d sandwiching the semiconductor light-emitting element 112 is condensed on the upper side of the perpendicular direction against the upper face 111a of the substrate 111. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source for lighting capable of improving the insulation between a lighting circuit and a metal base.SOLUTION: A light source for lighting includes: a long housing 20; a long first base 50 which is covered by the housing 20 and is made of a metal; a long substrate 11 disposed on the first base 50; an LED 12 disposed on the substrate 11; a lighting circuit 80 which is disposed on the first base 50 or the substrate 11 and used for causing the LED 12 to emit light; and a circuit cover 85 which is formed so as to cover the lighting circuit 80 and is made of an insulation material. The first base 50 includes a first wall part 51 and a second wall part 52 which sandwich the substrate 11 from a shorter side direction of the substrate 11 and extend along a longitudinal direction of the first base 50. The circuit cover 85 includes: first sandwich parts 851 which sandwich the first wall part 51 and extend in the longitudinal direction of the first base 50; and second sandwich parts 852 which sandwich the second wall part 52 and extend in the longitudinal direction of the first base 50.

SOLUTION: The cold cathode discharge lamp 100 includes a light emitting tube 101, an electrode 102 provided in the light emitting tube 101, and an electron emission material layer 103 provided on a surface of the electrode 102.
