The invention relates methods for time aligning uplink transmissions by a mobile terminal in a mobile communication system, and to methods for performing a handover of a mobile terminal to a target aggregation access point. The invention is also providing apparatus and system for performing these methods, and computer readable media the instructions of which cause the apparatus and system to perform the methods described herein. In order to allow for aligning the timing of uplink transmissions on uplink component carriers, where different propagation delays are imposed on the transmissions on the uplink component carriers, the inventions suggests to time align the uplink component carriers based on a reference time alignment of a reference cell and a reception time difference or propagation delay difference between the downlink transmissions in the reference cell and the other radio cells, the uplink component carriers of which need to be time aligned.

In the event that uplink data is generated in a wireless communication terminal to which an uplink resource has not yet been allocated the terminal uses an individual scheduling request resource on a second cell of a smaller cell coverage than a first cell to transmit a scheduling request and in the event that an uplink resource fails to be allocated in response to the scheduling request transmits a random access preamble and carries out a random access procedure requesting a wireless communication device to allocate an uplink resource.

Provided is a communication terminal capable of simultaneous communication over a plurality of carriers by means of carrier aggregation, that is equipped with a quality measuring unit that obtains a measured value by measuring the reception quality of radio waves transmitted from the base station of a connected cell over a plurality of carriers, a designated carrier storing unit that stores information specifying a designated carrier selected from among the plurality of carriers, a comparing unit that compares a threshold value with the measured value of the designated carrier measured by the quality measuring unit, and a cell searching unit that searches for an alternate cell when the measured value of the designated carrier is equal to or below the threshold value. As a result, the search threshold corresponding to carrier aggregation can be appropriately determined and cell search and quality measurement can be performed.

Si un aparato terminal (2) de un sistema de comunicación inalámbrica (1) detecta la ocurrencia de un evento para transmitir, a un aparato de estación base (3) con el que el aparato terminal (2) está en comunicación, un reporte de resultados de medición del estado de ondas de radio de una célula a una frecuencia establecida en el aparato de estación base (3), el aparato terminal (2) crea un reporte de resultados de medición que incluye información que muestra el estado de ondas de radio de una célula a la frecuencia a la que el evento había ocurrido y a otra frecuencia diferencia. El aparato de estación base (3) controla si se traspasa el aparato terminal (2) a la otra célula, con base en el reporte de resultados de medición transmitido desde el aparato terminal (2). Debido a esto, el tiempo requerido para traspaso puede ser acortado en sistemas de comunicación inalámbrica que usen una pluralidad de frecuencias para hacer posible la comunicación entre un aparato de estación base y aparatos terminales.
