Abstract: A parameter (TR1) concerning a reference vector is compared with a predetermined value to determine whether the parameter exceeds a predetermined value. A switching section switches between selection of the maximum value of the parameter (TR) previously stored and selection of the parameter (TR1) according to comparison result. The selected parameter is approximated to the reciprocal (1/TR1) of the parameter (TR1). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) dynamic image encoding method; and (2) dynamic image decoding method.
